    Thankyou for making such an excellent mod. I have enjoyed immensely the time I have spent so far with my byz campaign (200 turns in).

    I have noticed some issues:

    Byz heavy spearmen, I love the way they look and once they get going the way they fight is fine. The problem is that when they are stood still the moment something attacks them they tend to shoulder their spear and then bring it back down again - the enemies charge hurts them badly as they are too busy to fight back. As a result of this I choose to use them as irregulars, behind my front line.

    Occasionally I have seen an enemy just give up ramming my gate for no apparent reason then resume again. In one battle this happened 4 times. I wanted him to smash that gate and charge onto my spears but instead he danced his ram back and forth letting me kill his entire army with my archers.

    The only other issue I currently remember and the worst by far is that I can produce latinkon in non byzantine provinces but not dismounted latinkon. Perhaps there is some issue with my install but currently there is no point in me building past militia barracks in foreign lands.

    With all units that use schiltrom formation I have noticed that I can get them to do a shieldwall with a bit of messing about, enabling schiltrom and then moving them and disabling it before they can form together properly. The result is that they look like they are in sheildwall formation but sadly when the enemy hits they spread back to normal. Not really a problem as such I just thought that might be interesting.

    Again many thanks to all involved for making this mod, I've had loads of fun with it because you've done such a fantastic job!

    Hmm. Can you believe I've never actually used these guys in a battle! I don't use much of any units in battles, come to think of it.

    How are you using them in Schiltrom formation or not? They fight two ways:

    1] In schiltrom, they use their spears even if you alt+attack
    2] In normal mode, if they're attacked standing still they won't fight back. You have affirmatively attack. Either normal for spear, or alt+attack for sword

    I think PDER standard includes vanilla Battle AI, so that's just dumb AI. Maybe try Lusted Battle AI? I hear it's smashing!

    I just tested heavy spearmen and found:

    In schiltrom they respond properly to an enemy charge, if they have the distance and i get them to attack an enemy they switch to swords and do a running charge then switch back to spears.

    In normal formation they switch to swords on the charge and usually continue to use swords until i click them to attack a second time when they change to spears. alt + attack will get them back to swords. if they are on stand ground in normal formation they do nothing.

    I also found that they are amazing in schiltrom, perhaps too powerful. I have not yet found a unit that can beat them by itself. pikemen do best with noble pikemen needing only 2 units to defeat them, it took 3 units of dismounted gothic knights!

    They are amazing.
