What mod are you using? Meaning version and whether you have mini mods installed on top?

i have RTRPE 1.6 or 1.7 I think. Not the latest anyway. No extra mods aside from some custom stuff like skins and AOR adjustments

Elephants for example can crash trough low level gates - that might cause the effect you talked about.

neh, it's Romans without Elephans. They always have one battering ram.

The same happened to me once too, but in Roma Surrectum v8. Syracuse sieged Messana and assaulted it the same turn, magically gaining a battering ram. The toughest and closest battle I ever fought, real fun. Seems to me a random RTW bug, I'm playing it for years now and that was the first time it happened.

It happens on rare occasions. Not necessarily connected to a specific mod. I've seen it in vanilla and various other mods too. I'd consider it a bug, unless proven wrong.
