    Default Olympic games.

    I am extremely Disgusted at the people who run this Great Nation (Britain).

    the Red Arrows cannot preform at the Olympic games because other country would find it offensive! what on earth!! were going through the minds of the men who were organizing this.

    We are spend around 5- 17 Billion pounds on this Event where it could be put into our Military which is DESPERATE need of support.

    they say that the Red arrows will offend people because it is showing our MILITARY might. Well come on we were the Last Empire, what you expect. I don't think our country has never not been at war with any one.

    People of the world!!! would you find it offensive if we British were to show you our Red Arrows who are the Finest Acrobats in the air.
    Total war turned me into a Twcenter religious fanatic

    Clearly racist. Red planes refers to red indians and that's a colonialist..imperialist...rainforests...Thatcher...Empire...slavery...Thatcher

    Mentioning arrows would also upset French people

    The only source I have seen is an article by a Sun journalist. I would expect something as sensitive as this would appear on the DCMS and MOD websites, but there is absolutely nothing, not even a standard rebuttal. The only Olympic military-related material relates to increased demand for bomb disposal squads. The Sun is more than capable of making stories up as any Liverpudlian knows. Has anyone got an independent source for this story?

    I dont think anyone would care other than French or Russians, but in any case...what is the point in flying military planes in an Olympic celebration? We in Barcelona had one of the most impressive celebrations ever, and we had no need of using the military!

    (...) and that unfortunate People were afterwards forced to undergo the utmost Miseries of a Siege, in their Capital City of Barcelona; during which, great Multitudes of them perished by Famine and the Sword, many of them have since been executed; and great Numbers of the Nobility of Catalonia, who, for their Constancy and Bravery in Defence of their Liberties, and for their Services in Conjunction with Her Majesty and Her Allies, had, in all Honour, Justice, and Conscience, the highest Claim to Her Majesty's Protection, are now dispersed in Dungeons throughout the Spanish Dominions.

    Surely you're not implying that the Sun doesn't have high journalistic standards.
    If it hasn't appeared anywhere else it's obviously a crock. As usual.

    @Chlodwig - I think that |MeMw|Obi-Wan is referring to London 2012.

    I recommend a daily low-level flypass above the Sun's offices until they get the message not to tell lies about HM's honourable Civil Service.

    They seem to have form. Haven't heard of this one, what happened? Strange thing is that the tabloids are giving the BBC a hard time because they fixed a phone-in competition naming the Blue Peter cat. :hmmm:

    Here's some of ,no doubt many, examples of The Sun's less than rigorous standards of journalism.
