Default My PC turns off unexpectedly after 10'...

It happens 10-15 minutes approximately after I turn it on, irrespective of what apps I run. Any ideas?

I cleaned all the DDR contacts, still nothing happens...

I scanned for viruses and malware, cleaned the heatsink and fans, use compressed air everywhere. I also checked grounding, any loose contacts, left distance (slots) between DDR modules.

Cannot think of anything else at the moment...

As usually the solution was simple. I had to make the above post; as soon as I posted it the problem disappeared.

I am unsure about the existence of God but Windows is pure metaphysics.

Now when you say “irrespective of what apps I run” I take it that means anything from MS Word to Medieval II: Total War? If you try and run a game does your system shut down any sooner then 15 mins?

A complete system shut down can be caused by a lot things, I tend to think that it’s not ram related at Ram issues tend to be more intermittent then what you’re describing. Most likely you either need to replace your CPU HSF or re-seat it, if that doesn’t work then try and borrow a PSU and see if that makes a difference. To correct a problem like this is simply a case of eliminating possible suspects until you find the culprit.

Well, Garbarsardar, it looks like you fixed your own problem by cleaning it out.

regardless of if the fans are working or not, the computer could be overheating, or atlest one part of it.

try taking your cpu heatsink off and reapplying the thermal paste. and try adding an extra fan. if it makes the computer run for a little longer you know what the problem is.

also 10 mins in open up your graphics control panel and check what temp its running at.

Believe it or not it was a faulty DDR module. I realised that my computer properties showed only 1.5 Gig of memory. After removing it it was fine.
    Thanks for the ideas guys.
