Skins problem
I recently tried to import a skin from Roma Surrectum to SPQR and it worked sort of. The auxilia appears and everything is fine except there are black spots on their shoulders and fromt and chainmal on their scabbard. I know this is indicative of a model/skin compatibility issue but I don't know what it is. Here are the texts for Surrectum and SPQR respectively (all the files are in both, that is not the issue)
type roman_infantry_auxillia
skeleton fs_fast_spearman, fs_s1_gladius
indiv_range 40

Re: Skins problem
My guess is the skin (texture) doesn't fit the model. You can't fix that with text files it needs to be fixed in 3d max.
Did you only swap one and not the other??..

Re: Skins problem
That is what is so puzzling, I took the model and the skin from Roma Surrectum where they both look fine. I'll keep rooting around in the text files.
Is there some reason the model from RS would not work or be the same size for SPQR? I am certain that the problem is the skin/model compatibility because of the chainmail texture on the scabbard, I just don't know what is causing it.
Edit: It turns out that the skin, or unit for that matter, wasn't actually implemented in the game, I misread a unit name. I'll just have to finish the skin myself. So my next question is: How would I do that?

Re: Skins problem
Ah, then your buggered, to be frank, it needs to be uv mapped in 3dmax to fit the model, if you post it here I'll take a look, no promises though.
To post it here zip up the texture and the model and attach it to a poat or upload it to;

Re: Skins problem
Ok, here is the skin:

And here is the model:

If the skin needs to be shaped to the model, how can I aquire 3dmax? Is it freeware? I think I can map the few points that need it myself (just the scabbard, shoulder mail, and thing that hangs off the belt in front).
Edit: I just noticed that the skin I have been using has a green shield, but in game it always appears as red. Could this mean the skin is not going into effect?
Ok, I just tried to change the principes, and they are not working either. The skin that keeps showing in-game is the vanilla skin. I have no clue why the game would do that.

Re: Skins problem
Sorry for the trouble, but I figured it out. The skins from RS were the same name as the vanilla skins, that's why the vanilla skins were showing up.
