Icon5 DLV install woes (two months and still problematic)

    Here's the scenerio.

I had some problems with 4.0 not installing completely. Nearly everything would install then the "install complete" screen would pop up, even though the install was NOT complete. As far as I could tell all of the DLV folders are in the medieval folder except for the launcher. Also there is no desktop shorty nor is it found in start/programs/( insert DLV here)

After trying for weeks to fix this problem I set my Medieval gaming aside to go to work everyday. So last week I wanted to play again Medieval (unmodded) would not work. Apparently my daughter had managed to scratch it up for me as I had never returned it to its case. SO I went out and bought the game again plus KINGDOMS. This was two days of trouble for me to get installed. I tried EVERYTHING but kept getting errors installing. Finally I went into my registry manually I found that there were still Sega/Medieval files in there even though I thought I had thoroughly removed the program. Removing this from my registry fixed my install of kingdoms woes and I figured it would have removed the problems I had with installing DLV 4.0. So I D-loaded 5.0 DLV and installed it.... SAME PROBLEM as with 4.0, incomplete install.

I was wondering if anyone knew where to find DLV in the registry, maybe an old version is in there, confusing my PC during install. I thought the Sega folder would have contained it as well, but maybe one of you know if DLV is seperated from it in the registry. I really need help on this, before I light my freaking hair on fire. I promise that I will, too!

Or maybe there is a way to manually install it, without the self-installer. Please, someone help me. I want to play DLV again. I've been playing DLV from the onset, I don't like not being able to anymore. Someone be kind enough to share with me the steps I need to take to rectify my install problems.

Was the DLV5 D/L the correct size as when I first downloaded it 'completed' at 178MB. It should be 586MB. I did a search of the registry files using medieval as the key word but only found 4 files, only one of which seemed to be connected with DLV & that was the PDF manual.
It is quite possible to install manually I've done it loads of time by copying & renaming the DLV folder & batch file but it would need some kind soul to upload the DLV folder, DLV exe. + the smaller folder in the main M2TW directory. I would do this for you verity but my connection speed is far too slow for that task.
Another option is for someone to burn it onto a disc & post it to you. Then just copy & paste into your M2TW folder.

There are two other options open for you to try out. The first is to use the System Restore function on your computer (provided that you have XP, but I think Vista has a similar option) to get the system back to an earlier working condition and try your game installations from there. The second is a time-consuming last ditch solution and goes all the way to a reinstallation of the whole Windows OS etc, so that all old files that may have become corrupted are deleted and a new pristine environment for your programs are created. Technical wizards should be able to do without this drastic step, but using the "Product Recovery DVD" or similar that came with your computer when you bought it is quite simple really, and sometimes you don't have a choice than to bite this sour apple. If you decide to go for this last option, make sure that you backup every file or program which you don't already have on CDs/DVDs or cannot access through Internet and want to keep first, because all data in your computer is destroyed in the process of building it up as it was from the very beginning again.

PS. In my registry, (some part of) DLV 4.0 is located in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/App Management/ARPCache directory. Make a search for "deus lo vult" in your own.

    ThanX for the sage advice.

I'm at work again, but I will consider my options tonight. I've already tried so many things, some of them possibly to my computers detriment. I'm not going to give up on this. Going to try again tonight to get back into the DLV realm.
