Xenophobia is what you want, i don't know if they finished the mod or not, but i think they already released a few voices.

Xenophonia has been out for a while now. They have mods which makes the factions speak in Italian, French, Spanish, Russian, and Dutch.

Which makes the factions speak French ? Or just France speak French ?

Because I'd find it ... rather strange, to say the least, to hear a Spanish, Russian, German or any other nations speaking French, even if I am French myself. If there is one thing I would have changed to the vanilla version of the game is the French voice overs for France. Their accent is literally repulsive, and their tones often make them sound like animals and very uncivilized.

Napoleon himself was said to be very calm during battle, and his men never shouted at the enemy in his presence. In MTW all nation's men, French, British, Germans or any, really, they all shout in rage and fury. So, the point here is that even if they all speak French, to help the French players better understand what they are saying, but they only shout, then I'm not sure if there is any use to such mods.

The dialogs from the soldiers and commanders/officers alike aren't much developed, other than perhaps the Tutorial/Comments system which guides us during battles or world-map game-play. The soldiers say (or rather shout) "Die!", "Move!", "Run for it!", "Aaaaah!", and of course "Aaaaah!" translated in French is also "Aaaaah!" ...

But still, I guess I could give it a try rather than complaining without trying it.

No mon ami, of course not.

Each faction will speak in their own respective language:

    France = French
    HRE = German
Papal States, Milan, Venice, Sicily = Italian
    Etc.

The good thing about this mod is that it changes EVERY voices for those factions. Diplomats, units, you name it they speak it. I never play a mod without Xenophonia

Hmmm....I have the german language version of MTW2 and wasn't very happy with it, too. So I bought the original english version in addition.
And I have to say it was worth the money !

In the german version the main problem are the generals speeches. In contrast to the german version of RTW the speeches almost didn't exist at all. The general said only one sentence, sometimes two. I found that really disappointing.
Then I bought the english version and I don't regret it. The generals speeches are now as long as in RTW again.
Of course all nations speak english now, but it seems all nations speak with their specific accent, too. At least the germans do. The german accent is way exaggerated and I find that really funny and when I hear my units speak I must often smile. I haven't played other factions yet, but I heared french soldiers speak on the battlefield and they have a french accent, too.
So maybe an alternative to a mod would be buying the english original version.

By the way: It seems that some things went wrong during the installation of the original version. The messages when an event occurs are still german, so are the faction names in the description of famous battles on the campaign map.
In principle this isn't a problem for me, it doesn't trouble me but I'm sure I deinstalled the german version quite thoroughly and therefore it seems a little mysterious.

Come now, old bean. The English in this electronically generated world is absolutely spiffing, and one does find the remarks quite fruitful!

    Bien, voila qui est bien.

But does it also actually add new lines of speech ? Or just tweaks the already existing ones ? Hmmm, I'm curious now, I'll go and get that mod now. I presume it can be found at the hosted modifications section of this web-site ? (I'm still quite new here)

    Thanks.

It doesn't add new lines of speech, no.

And yes, it's in the hosted modifications.

Just make sure you know how to properly install this mod
It's not just simply using an installer to do everything for you.

Ah, so you're recruiting French modders?

You should go to the Modder's Classified Ads area.
That's where you want to go to recruit people.

Beren Arnatuilë, I must thank you two times right now for pointing me at the Xenophonia modification, really. I played around five or so hours yesterday non-stop after installing it.

    The voices are SUPERBLY done.

But I was wondering something ... I mean most of the voices so far really do sound like it comes from the exact same voice overs from the vanilla version ! Are they ? I expected something ... you know, something more "amateur", like I expected to hear a 20 years-old (pure example) trying to sound like a General or a Solider or a Merchant, but instead I was pleasantly surprised, very surprised to hear such beautifully toned voices. And the actual speech they give fits the corresponding context/situation very well.

I don't know who've made the French voices (surely at least two or three people, and one of them being a woman) but they should be employed by the developers right away, if they aren't already ! And the same thing goes with other voice overs too. I now find it nice to click on a foreign (from my point of view, which means non-French characters) Princesses because some of them got that "sensual" tone right on target like the German Princess voice and the Milanese one (hola bonita !).

Fantastic mod, I'd give it a score of 11/10.

I'm not really sure how or where they got the voices, but they are truly superb.

    Hehehe,

I always thought that the people who made Xenophonia got their voices from the other M2TW versions (German version, French version etc.) and just transfered the voices to the English one.

    I'm not sure.

Well you should understand him, he's probably not too comfortable with speaking English so he's searching for people to talk to.

In fact one of the members of the Italia Invicta/Anno Domini MXVI team is French: Solo. Don't tell him I gave his secret away though

No thing is everything. Every thing is nothing.
