    Default Patch 1.11

Spartan_Shame is moving at a good pace through the text descriptions for the temples, so this got me to thinking, once the descriptions are finished the temple overhall will be ready for testing and then general release.

So I figured, since the temple stuff will definitely not be save game compatible, if there are any other changes that we want to make to RS that either are or aren't save game compatible, we can merge them all with the temple update.

Yeah, I gotta fix the Legion AOR...again. As much as I hate to take the time to do it. So we can put it in with that too.

Could we get the Scythians in there? Maybe remove Syracuse? Or too much work?

I agree I think that would be too much for a patch.

From a marketing standpoint, a major addition like that would have a real impact. I project an additional 100-250% download volume if we can use the Scythians as a selling point...

Plus if they love this mod then they'll want the patch to help improve the gameplay.

Just one little whine though - i know we're putting in new gallic factions in RS2 partially to help stop the roman northern surge (you know, where the AI rarely enters greece and instead expands vastly to the north) but can someone help solve that for this patch. I would do it myself but every time ive tried the game hasnt stopped CTD-ing.
What I'm thinking is give the free people the areas at the top of Roman territory. ie: give free peoples Mediolanium, Patavium & Segesta and take away Iuvavum.
Personally i would also take away Salona and give Bononia therefore giving the free peoples a 'block' of territories but maybe this will make them too strong or be too unhistorical for others liking.

I mean it would give a temporary solution to the problem, and possibly with the right hinting could give RS1 users a clue as to how one of the new gallic factions will effect gameplay.

I agree, this makes a lot of sense. The Roman invasion of Poland always bugs me.

If you want to delay RS2 into next year sometime, sure, I'll start adding factions to RS1!! Are you crazy!? Tone is biting my heals off to get me to produce a beta of RS2 so you guys can start testing it, and it's so torn to pieces now I'm going nuts trying to get it at least playable.

As far as giving the Free People in RS1 all those territories.....again...are you crazy? The reason the Free People even work is because they don't have adjacent territories, and cannot recruit units in those they capture. If you start giving them all those regions next to each other, they will become a force that CAN'T be reckconed with.

What I could do, IF I have the time, is give them another region to the direct west of Ivavum......it would be VERY wrong to take Ivavum away from them, because if you look at that region and the way it's strategically placed, it blocks ALL access north as long as the Free People hold it. It's western border offers no access to the west, so it's a perfect region for them to have...which is why I gave it to them.

What I will do, in my spare time (LOL), is give Massilia to the Free people. This will further 'trap' the Gauls. Then I'll give Allobroges and Cisalpine Gaul to the Gauls....which they probably controlled anyway as a 'conglomerate faction'. This will have two possible effects...funneling the Romans thru Helvetii first, if they don't want to get involved with the Gauls, and leaving them vulnerable in doing so because they'll be surrounded on both sides by Gaul and the Free people as they try to go north. The second effect could be that they immediately get into a war with Gaul, which will prevent them from going north very quickly at all. The Romans tend to ignore Liguria as long as possible until they've dispatched Epirus, so at some point, they're going to be at war with two factions in the north no matter what...OR....they'll expand very dangerously thru the Alps and leave themselves vulnerable.
