Here is some feed back from a user with experience playing MTW and RTW, and their respective mods "XL" and "SPQR".
RTR 1.9 works for those players who want to realistically build empires. Its strength lies in the need for a player to be an "administrator" as well as a "fighter". I've found the best part of this game is the mental math it requires to figure out what buildings need to be added; are you looking to get more revenue or to recruit a certain unit type?
It also has a more realistic time line imposed on player expansion. With the whole "AOR" concept in play, blitzing your enemies isn't possible except in the most favourable circumstances. If you use the BI version, the AI is capable of some real dirty tricks of its own instead of being only a punching bag.
In my travels through mod world I find this one to be very impressive. This "fan boy" will be even more wowed when someone has a sure fire fix for the "revolt ctd" problem which can be delivered to the Metro Naval version.![]()
