    Did you set the file read-only after editing it?

    If you have problems with saving the preferences file, and it is unchecked from the Read-Only try to save it to for example your desktop, and then move and overwrite the original file. Tadaa, you should have the things saved, and you can edit them again and save with it. :O

    What would be of the best help to you would be for you to ask this same question in the M2 Tech Help Forum. There could be any number of reasons for that error to appear and that forum has the most experienced eyes on the problem.

    Some questions to answer when you open your thread:

    • What do you mean by "Changing the system"? Did you replace hardware like the graphics card or is it a new system totally?
    • When does the crash occur? Upon launching the game, loading a campaign or somewhere in between?
    • Do you have any mods installed? What other games do you have on that system that use SecuRom DRM?

    Additionally please post your DxDiag log - maybe we can spot a driver issue or something hardware related. Here's how:

    DxDiag is easy to run if you have any knowledge of Windows. Go to the "Start" button and in that menu choose "Run Program" option ("Run..." in Vista IIRC). In the pop-up field type "dxdiag" and press enter. This is the DirectX test program - let it finish the test. After the test is finished choose the button toward the bottom labeled "Save All Information..." and save it to your desktop. Next open up this forum and post the results by copying and pasting directly to the forum. Please don't post attachments as they take up more space and time - just copy and paste. Please post ALL info and if you can please wrap it in a spoiler tag to minimize page size.

    Good luck!

    Do you also have

    [io]
    filefirst = true

    in the cfg.?

    Have you set the file to read-only?

    I don't know if these will help but worth a try.
