    In the file medieval2.preference.cfg in your MTW2 main directory try adding the line windowed = 1 (if you don't use any mod).

    I forgot something. The line should be added in the video section - marked by the word "video" in brackets -> [video]

    And if you use a mod, that runs as a .batch? Any clue? I'd REALLY appreciate it :-)

    Yeah this all works perfectly.

    "If ye love wealth greater than liberty,
    the tranquility of servitude greater than
    the animating contest for freedom, go
    home from us in peace. We seek not
    your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch
    down and lick the hand that feeds you,
    and may posterity forget that ye were
    our countrymen."

    Hey thanks, was just looking though all the thread topics and found what I was looking for. It was'nt as easy as it sounds for a begginer like me to so to clarify for ultra noobs like me, this is how to do it.
    Usually found here:
    My computer / Local Disk (C /SEGA / Medieval II Total War / medieval2.preference (right click and open with Note Pad)
    Look down the list for [video] at the bottom of the list type this;

    windowed = 1

    then save and exit

    Right click Medieval2.preferences select properties uncheck the read only attribute and click apply, make your changes and save, remember to put it back to read only.

    In your case the "medieval2.preferences.cfg" might be labeled as read-only. This might cause the problems you're having.

    Right-click the file and choose "Properties". There make sure that the file isn't in read-only mode. After this save your changes and then make sure to put it back into read-only mode. - this will keep the game from making unwanted changes to your preferences. If this doesn't work let us know. Good luck!
