Default The Evil of Robin Hood

I've recently talked to several other forumers about the subject of Robin Hood, and his evils. I will explain,

Some people claim Robin Hood was stealing from those who stole and giving it back to the victims. But that is not the reason why the Robin Hood legend lived on, he is not remembered as a champion of Property or fighting Tyranny, he is remembered as a champion of Need.

Have'nt we all heard at one time or another, "Robin Hood, the man who stole from the rich and gave to the poor"?

What are your opinions on the first Communist?

I dont know if that qualifies him as a communist, but definitely socialist.

Socialism, Communism, in the end you steal from the Productive to give to the Unproductive.

You are assuming that all the poor in the story didn't work. Which wasn't really true back in those days, everyone worked. However, feudal lords did tax the poor peasants for every nickle and dime they had.

I'm talking about the modern day ideals of what Robin Hood represents, which is generally simple, "Stole from the rich and gave to the poor".

Which in todays terms means, "Stole from the Productive Rich and gave to the Unproductive Poor"

No, I mean the Productive part, like managers of buisness, for example, the Feudal Lords of old, would manage every part of the Manor area, they may have had advisors (like modern companies today) but they were in charge. Now imagine if your out taking your proce and some random guy takes a gun to your head, and ambushes you, takes all you own, and then runs off and gives it to some hobos, you support that?

Well then you are comparing two different things and any comparison between the two is irrelevant.

No. More like, "Retook the capital stolen by the thieving and unproductive rich and gave it back to the exploited and productive poor."

And I wish all you Red Flag waving, Lenin reading, Marx worshiping, Internationale singing, Communists would wake up, take a big long look at Stalinist Purges and then say and understand the following, "When you put the Economy in the hands of the State, people get killed."

Now on your comment on productivity, the Industrialist, who assumes the risk of this factory, manages the factory, and builds it up, is not productive?

Or do you believe anyone above Living Poor is a rich Bourgeois Aristocrat?

Yeah, when we put the Economy in the hands of the State, people get killed, while in the Capitalist system, they live long healthy lives and die with praises of the industrialists on their lips. I should have thought of that before. Yours is an amazing brain.

The Industrialist is only as productive as his capital, and he would be more productive if he came down and worked with the factory workers after investing his capital. I am yet to understand why the peasants and the workers are unproductive. Must be because I'm a blockhead.

I never called Peasants and Workers unproductive. (Although if you still believe peasants exist, you are block headed)

The Industrialist, spends his time managing the company, he makes sure everything is running smoothly. Or would you rather have a "Peasant" run the machinery?

However I agree with you on two points:

1.Mine is an amazing brain indeed.
    2.Your blockheaded

Applied 20th century economic terms to 12th century Saxon peasants. Not going to work champ.

Robin Hood (at least (the fictional one) was a hero because he tried to fight the injustices of the system that had been imposed by a feudal aristocracy who used force of arms to impose themselves on a foreign land, so clearly he was justified in doing what he did. And remember, stealing is not bad per se.

Yes, Robin Hood used his position of power to redistribute wealth. According to your communist-hating opinion, he was evil. According to other, more normal dare I say people, he was a hero. Your point?

We're talking about his legacy, he did not leave behind a legacy of Returning Goods to the rightful owners he is remembered by, dare I say it ,more normal people, as the champion over greed and want.
