Default editing winning conditions in RTR

    Hi everyone.

How do I edit the winning conditions for factions in RTRealism. I play the 6.2 version. (I mean especially the faction\s you have to destroy in the short games).

And another thing, I now play the RTR 6.2 , is the gold 6.0 more advanced than it, should I try it ?

Thank you for your time and help.

RTR 6 Gold is the last version of RTR for the engine of RTW v1.2. Just to make sure, the official RTR site is this one:

not the one with .com that remained at 6.2 level.

To mod the victory conditions you need to edit this file:
    descr_win_conditions
    from this location:
    Rome - Total War\Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

The entries look like this(this one is from RTRPE v1.8 though so it might be a bit different):

    macedon
hold_regions Macedonia Syria Nile_Delta Babylonia Attica Rhodos
    take_regions 50
    short_campaign outlive_factions
    greek_cities thrace
You have to edit the line in read by adding removing new factions for what you wanted.
Also, you should know that the internal names for the bactrians is thrace and the one for illyrians is britons.

    I went to :
    C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

and there is no file called "descr_win_conditions". I`ve also searched for it in "search for files..." and found no file. i also tried just searching for "descr" and checked if there is something similar to it and found no results. I also srchd inside documents for : short_campaign , take_regions . It found none.

About the GOLD, I read that on softpedia :
    Note:
If you already have an unmodified version 6.1, 6.2, 6.2 hotfix installation, or 6.3:
    1. Install the Rome Total Realism 6.0 Gold patch.
    2. [Optional] Install the Music Addon (recommended)
    3. Play!

So I just install it right ?...

You should have the file there. It is even there in vanilla RTW. I can see no typo in the path or the name of the file so I have no idea why you don`t have you.

You mean you want to install Gold on top of what you have? For one thing I am not sure if you`ll still be able to use your saved games. They might not be compatible. Second thing, it is usually best to install a mod directly on the unmodded game. Theoretically, installing RTR 6 Gold on top of 6.2 should be fine, but I don`t know for sure.

RTR 6 Gold on top of 6.2 is definately fine.

the descr_win_conditions should be in data/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign because the game wont work if you dont have it.

sorry i cant be more helpful

RTW 1.2 don't have the ability to change victory condition (if I'm not mistaken. It's a function which were introduce in BI (and also RTW 1.5) so using RTR 6.2 or RTR 6 Gold will have to stick to the Have Rome and 50 province winning requirement as per RTW 1.2 version of the game.

I think that 1.2 patch reveals the secret of the missing file.
I installed the gold over the 6.2 and it works perfect.
I`ll play the long campaign, and decide with myself who I want to destroy.

Thank you people for your help.
