    Icon4 America's Factions, who can?

I have a quick question, I have been playing for quite a while but I have to admit between trying new factions, installing and uninstalling mods and other factors I have never played past 1350ad. Now I know that the Americas conquest chimes in at about 1392ad. But is it limited to certain factions (can the muslims go there), and if so which factions please. Its a long time to play and find out that the faction you chose doesn't offer that option?

I think everyone can go there.

I remember the day when the Mongols landed on America in 1500 and said ALL YOUR BASE BELONGS TO US!

Yeah, all factions are able to get there, but if you wanna play through a campaign just to reach America I would recommend on of the western factions, since they don't have as far to travel. Factions like England or France, or anything in the Iberian Peninsula imo.

Do you have to race them there, howz it work? Does the map extend? Does it become a new map? So when you get to America can u interact with other factions who are there at the moment too besides the Aztecs or is first come first served?

    Thanks for the help.

There is no race, since the AI does not go to america. You don't really interact with the aztecs either.. they have 3 or 4 full armies and three cities, you take these out and the aztecs are gone.

The map is always the same, the aztecs are there from the beginning of the game, just behind fog of war.

Yeah, sad how the other factions ignore North America. However, I once gave Spain Cuba and Tlaxcala and they ended up whooping the Aztecs. And I also once gave the Aztecs Milan, and they ended up conquering all of Italy (they magically recruited merc crossbows.)

Not true, there is a historical event that opens the 'new world' you cannot get there until that time and the map shows a silver design on the left side of the map. It turns black after the event and you can get there with the right ships at that time.

What I said was true. The map is there, behind fog of war. The minimap is covered by the interface until the world is round event, but the land is always there. If you type toggle_fow you can go look at it.

The bit on the left of the map that has a design on it becomes black showing you can now go there. You also need the more advanced ship designs, not sure if all factions get those. (Caravel and higher). I have played 3 games that I got there, England, France and Spain. I never saw the other factions make it there, but that's only 3 data points. I have wondered the same thing, if I am slow, will they get there first, or will they send armies to oppose me? So far I have not seen it, but that's only 3 games.

As far as I am aware, AI factions completely ignore the new world. Shame really.
    I love you all!

The Americas Campaign is by far my favourite of all the new campaigns, all the factions are really, (even if most meso-american factions are identical), and I kinda like not using any cavalry at all. It's a great change.

All factions can go to America.Spain and Portugal use Grande Carracks and Caravels, the muslim factions(Egypt,Moors & Turks)use Baghlah vessels, and all the other factions use the ordinary Carracks. That's all.

    You... You must be Sauron!

'Cos you're a damn good necromancer!

    it's all in good humour
One does not desire the power of a nation,
So much as one treasures reputation.
This poem is not a 'trap', nor a 'trep',
It is simply a device for the collection of rep.
