    Default tutorial battle - yikes!

OK so I'm playing the tutorial battle in MW2 with the smaller Italian army vs. the French. I've tried strict defense, strong left-flank defense, full-out counter attact on rt-flank, etc. I've lost 20 battles to these guys- and this is a tutorial!

    Help!

    Ta,

You mean the first tutorial battle?

How could you lose it 20 times? Just follow the advisor's directions. Don't use your own srategy.

There is no tutorial battle like you described, however there is a historical battle involving the Holy Roman Empire and Spain vs the French that takes place in Italy.

I've only played it once, but when I did I kept my starting position and let the French come to me. I only lost because the timer ran out before I could route the last two cannons near the manor.

I won because of a glitch

They charge, I hold, then the French king freezes in terror during the retreat. Really frozen, not moving at ALL. So I send my pikes in, who make short work of the king. From there, I send my general out, and he makes those Frenchies retreat with one charge.Basically, the French were crushed because they lost morale after the king died. Though I suppose without the glitch, the way to win involves killing the French king (preferably in a big battle, then the French run away.)

I actually won that battle, though a long time ago... I fought the troops that first attacked my own then go out of their cannons range... I think I waited till the allied army came close to distract their cannons and rushed some troops in loose formation to take out their cannons.

Let's just hope they were fascist communist kittens who were on their way to international fascist communist fair.

I beat that battle once in three attempts when I got the gold demo, it was pretty hard.

Keep your pikes in formation and don't let them revert to swords if possible. Its do-able, it just takes some micromanaging.

I won by keeping pikes in place and protecting there flanks with the zweihanders then charging and killing the scots guard with my general, then I charged the zweihanders and pikes at the culverins and then won.

Hold your line. Don't go running to the Spanish and make sure you break the French charge on your pikemen/spearmen. Kill the French King. Once he dies, the battle is extremely easy.

Historically, the french King François 1st did charge and was captured, the battle was a disastrous french defeat.

King Francis charged at my pikes and immediately killed at the start of the battle and I send my king into the scotsguard and finish them them I turn my zweihanders to the left flank to face the French infantry. The pikes eventually finished the gendarmes and aid the zweihanders and then just plain easy tactics took me into victory... It is too easy... Perphaps you guys should play on the French side.

By the way I am from Myanmar and I was amazed by this attached pic!! Funny!!
