    Default Shampoo

About Shampoo.. Is it necessary? Myself, I haven't used it for months. No one have noticed it. I don't feel any difference either. Plus it saves money.

And I have a problem with dandruff, it's in the family (From my mother's side, together with bad memory and eyesight ). But now that I have stopped putting things like avocado and "loofah" to my hair, the problem is pretty much gone.

What do you think? Is shampoo necessary? Am I a disguisting social freak? Or genious ?

    Disgusting social freak.

But if you dont wash your hair for a month or two it goes natural apparently, like animal hair. Its proper soft and that. Not sure if it would smell great though...

I have a slight problem with dandruff too. That's why I switched to Head and Shoulders. It's completely gone.

I can't afford to give up shampoo. I go to school and I have a family. Smelly hair can be smelled for miles.

My hair gets greasy if I don't wash it. Also because it's very long and thick. I don't usually wash my hair too often though. Just looks better unwashed. I say, partial social freak, partial genious.

If you have very very short hair, maybe you would pass unoticed. My hair almost reaches my shoulders and trust me, shampoo is necessary.

Yeah, my hair goes past my shoulders in the back and a few people tend to notice when I don't wash my hair. Mostly my girlfriend though.

I wouldn't shower every day unless it was a custom in this country. Some of my friends in Sweden only showered twice a week, and so did I (and I didn't even think about it). here in the U.S people take you for a social freak if you dont shower every day, and now when I began taking showers regularly I think it's great. Feels great to be clean all the time.

My hair gets all greasy and disgusting, also itchy if I don't use shampoo. There's a problem, though, when I do use shampoo, my hair becomes extremely thin, static, and it feels as if my scalp and hair is very dry. Anybody know what I could do to maybe make my hair a little thicker and more hydrated after a shower?

I shower every day, and I use shampoo every time I take a shower. I live in the USA by the way. Not that being in a certain country has to do much with it, unless you were poor of course.

That one with little coloured things inside?Lol, not shampoo though.

A teacher of mine once said that it is necessary to shower everyday. I only shower once in 2/3 days, which is normally after my training.
As for the hair, I use shampoo just not to get smelly, but I do agree it looks better sometimes if I dont use shampoo for like 4 days, the problem is that it smells bad.

No word of a lie, I haven't used shampoo in about a decade. I just shave my head to a number 2 periodically. My hair is fine, not greasy or anything.

supposedly hair will wash itself after a while but its always gonna be pretty greasy if you dont. i rarely wash my hair because of how frizzy it goes (i have long hair and it gets huge and i look like a lion) so i have to wash my hair on days i know i wont be doing anything for a few days after (to avoid the social embarassment) when it was short i washed it almost every time i showered but the more you wash it the faster it gets greasy

You should really just do the 6 week challenge. Basically, much as the OP is doing, you don't shampoo or condition your hair for six weeks. Within six weeks your body will naturally regulate the amount of oils it makes, and it will be entirely normal--even healthier in fact. So long as you wet your hair effectively during the actual shower, the grease should not get too bad, nor should it smell. In fact, I have long hair and I've just finished the Six week challenge. Its wonderful!

NOTE: Obviously it doesn't always take Six weeks, it can vary depending on the person.

I haven't had any problem with smell. If I did, someone would tell me (it's not customery to "try to be nice"). Another reason why I don't use shampoo is because I don't like who gets money for it.

What's funny is the less you wash your hair, the better it generally looks. So the solution is to cut it short, then it will always look the same and you can be clean.

I think it's the same as many things society expects of people these days. But what did we do for many tens of thousands of years prior to some company making that crap?

For me, same as eating. No 3 meals a day for me. Try 1 or 2, and only when I'm hungry - 2am or Noon, whenever (not to go off-topic of course)

and your skin and your scalp have never cried more.
I take a shower 2-3 times a week. Take daily showers is rather unnecessary and slightly damaging to skin. I suppose that for an American, I take a slightly more European view to some things in life than most Americans. I generally only shower after going to the gym or every 3 days if I fail to go to the gym or do some sort of physical labour in those 3 days.
Shampoo isn't necessary, but for a large bottle that can last me nearly a year for ~$7.00, I'm willing to pay.
I did have a friend that lived with me this past summer for 9 weeks. During that time, he only showered 5 times. That was rather disgusting (his hair was to his shoulders).
Thank you for reading this assuredly fantastic post.
