Default Principality of Antioch and County of Edessa

I start this thread in the hope that we can discuss here the strategic planning for this very important faction
First a quick view in the history of Utremer so that we can get in the atmosphere of the crusades
    COUNTY OF EDESSA
Historically in the year 1174(the year in turn 1) the county of edessa had been lost a few years back completely to the famous conqueror Nur-ed-din.The few forts that remained in the hands of the widow of the count of edessa (turbesel, ravendel) after the fall of edessa had been sold eagerly to emperor manuel. It seems that he wanted to gain some kind of foothold in the region and lay claim to the county even if he lost these forts.Unfortunately in less than a year everything had been lost to islam.
In game things are much better than in reality for the county. You start be holding not only edessa but even 2 more towns deep inside the turkish territory.
But your fate can quickly change and match the fate of the crusaders historically
    THE PRINCIPALITY OF ANTIOCH
Antioch. One of the greatest cities of middle east, seat of a patriarh and the greatest crusader stronghold in the north.Historically by 1174 it was reduced to more or else only to the city itself.
But in game you are Bohemund the third and the traditions of the first bohemund follow you:courage, strength, faith. And you are going to need all of them!

This is kinda offtopic, but i have a big question regarding this 2 factions. Each of them has 2 unique superb units. So I am searching the building tree, hoping that i can recruit this units and I don't find them anywhere. Ok, they are unique, but c'monn! Nothing to do.... yet.... now I'm playing with the bizantines and the antioch faction has .... 4 units of cannons!!!!! I can't recruit them as mercenaries, i tried that and no building or guild can recruit them..:hmmm:

    OK First of all:

In Total War nothing is historically correct.

    Second:
    Territories and Expansion:
Pricipality of Antiocheia : Payas, Savranda, Antiocheia, Saone, Lataika, and others. 1098 - 1268
County of Edessa: Ravendel, Turbessel, Biredschik, Samosa, Edesse. And on the same territory musulman castles like Aintab. (1098 - 1146)
    Conty of Tripolis (1102 - 1289):
Magrat, Tortosa, Arima, Krak des Chevaliers, Akkar, PIlgerberg, Gibelet and many more.
    KIngdom of Jerusalem (1099 - 1187 / [1244]):
Beirut (-1291), Sidon (-1291), Tyrus (-1291), Akkon (-1291), Chastel Pélerin, Belvoir, Jaffa, Ibelin, Askalon, Gaza, Darum, Beth Gibeln, Garder, Blanche, Nabius, JERUSALEM, Kerak, Taphila, Montreal, Petra, Akaba, Ile de Graya and many many more.
And kingdom of minor Armenia (1081-1083 / 1198-1375):
A lot of castles and a huge territory.

In the game there is Richard the LIonheart as hero character. And Jerusalem is still hold by the crusaders. In reality the king of England appeared 2 years after Jerusalem was taken by SALADIN.

    So what ?

I my campaign the Egyptians took Jerusalem two years before Richard appeared. The Venetians also took Constantinople in 1204. So it CAN happen

At one point in the campaign I got a pop-up window saying there was a Mamluk revolt led by Baybars. I looked around the map using the fow-cheat but couldn't see anything particular. Anyone know how what it is supposed to look like?

So far it has been a very nice campaign, and not as easy as I had thought/feared.

I have changed my campaign a bit to use 1 year/turn and moved the end date forward to 139x (200 turns). This leaves some more time between the historical game events, so they feel more significant.

The point of the game is to re-write history, not write it again...

The Ruler of Egypt (in history) was using the "Mamluks" which means "slaves" in arabic, using them in the army of egypt, commanded by baybars.
After that Egypt was ruled by baybars and then "Qutoz" he was from the mamluks also, and he's the one who faced the mongols commanded by "Katabgha"

and there is another popup saying there is a new turkish Hero named Usman or osman, that's true also because he's the one who ruled turky later and nemed his country after him " the osmany country.

i see some of the real history in the game, some not all, and alot of mixing in the history.
