Hey all,
I was thinking of doing a mod for SS based on 'guilds'. There would be a "Archery Tradition", "Swordsmanship Tradition", "Armor Tradition", "Naval Tradition" and "Horsemanship Tradition".
These Traditions will basically be guilds, but with a twist. Points will only be awarded towards the establishment of a Tradition based on the recruitment of certain units (I.E Archers for "Archery Tradition"). The points awarded per unit will be relativley low per settlement, but higher than the usual guild per other settlement. The end result being that if you want your Faction to have the "Archery Tradition", then you will have to have armies based on Archery (or spam archer units just to get the Tradition, to fix that I may limit point earning units to elites).
The benefit recieved from the Tradition will ba a unique unit based on that factions base unit (In the Archery Tradition, Longbowmen for England, Xbow unit for Italian Faction)
This Unique Unit will be SLIGHTLY more powerful than the base unit, just enough to make you want it, not strong enough to unbalance the game. The "Armor Tradition" may be limited to factions with a history of fine armor, such as Milan, Venice and HRE, and so on with the others.
The reason for this mod will be for more historical accuracy and role playing elements. For RPing, I have an idea like giving a general a chance at a 'Hero' each time he ends his turn in a Tradition settlement. Maybe this hero could allow the general to recruit the Traditions unit in any settlement, but Im not sure on the mechanics of that.
I can make the guilds and a few other changes, but I will need help with other aspects, new skins, unit cards, ideas and tweaks. If interest is high enough, Ill start putting together a team and doing more research. If interest is not high, Ill do it all in my own good time.
