    Default Very very disappointing

Only found out about Kingdoms the other day, rushed out and bought a copy. Numerous install problems, patch 1.3 what patch 1.3, what does it do.

Nice campaigns add ons, but I only really play the grand campaign and guess what, Kingdoms does not upgrade or enhance the Grand campaign one little bit.

What is all the fuss about, its four minor, alternative campaigns with some nice additions, but if you don’t encounter them in the main game it’s a waste of time

Really Pi...ssed off Especially when I was quite a way into a really great campaign with the Stainless Steel Mod which to my mind beats Kingdoms hands down and its free, Gees the enemy actually fights you in Stainless

    Kingdoms, why bother

It is not like they kept that information from you (Kingdoms not adding to the GC), and they already stated that no changes would be made to the GC several months ago. So don't be p'ed about it, if you failed to get the info available before purchasing. Kingdoms, why bother? Cause it is awesome! Besides the GC is boring due to it being too ahistorical (take over the world as the Apachean tribes? NO THANKS!)

Thanks Turkeys! Would have mentioned that mod, if I could have remembered the name for it

I managed to install all but one of the scenarios, even played a little on the Britania game, looked fine. Let me point out, I have no problems with Kingdoms itself, a nice little add on, I bought it on the misunderstanding that it would upgrade the whole game, it does'nt its just four new campaines and thats where I have a problem.

You should really give Kingdoms a shot before saying you don't like it. The game plays the same, just with different maps and less factions. I thought I wouldn't like the small scale, but it's not really small when you stick a ton of cities in it. I'm happy with it, well worth 30 bucks imo.

Grazz, I thank you for your comment, I'm trying to give it a go, I'm having such a time just trying to install the dam thing. I got three of the campaines to work, but not the Crusades, so I've just uninstalled and reinstalled MTW2 a couple of times and I just never get a complete install, there always something missing or fu...ked up its driving me nuts I must have spent five hours trying to get it going.

Would have been a little better, if they had also made campaigns for the 100 year war, the Italian wars and the reconquista Oh well, modders do your magic!

At 15 GBP I think Kingdoms is excellent value for money and certainly does enhance and compliment the original package. Focusing in on specific campaigns, as Kingdoms does, is definitely the way forward for the TW expansions and I expect it's probably how Empires will deal with its eventual expansion.

While the individual campaigns are smaller in geographic and time scales, at 200 turns apiece, they last nearly as long as the vanilla Grand Campaign, so we are hardly being short-changed.

If you add Lusted's "Lands to Conquer" mod (when he releases the Kingdoms compatible version), which in effect is almost another "official" expansion in its own right, you will have additional mini-campaigns (including the 100 Years War!) and two revised Grand campaigns.

How's all that for comprehensive period coverage.

Mighty nice reply, informative and to the point, and whats more I finally got Kingdoms to install, not bad after umpteen failed attempts

I have also found and installed the Retrofit mod, though I've only had a quick look at the main game, I cant immediatley see what it does to the Graqnd campaine, but then I've only had it all up and running for about three point five minutes

It adds many of the features from kingdoms into grand campaign. You'll notice as you play longer

Aye, I was under the impression that Kingdoms included things like the drastic rebalancing of units and so on.

It does, but they are in the Kingdoms campaigns, not the Grand Campaign.
