    Default Help with trigger GeneralCaptureSettlement

I was wondering, concerning the trigger GeneralCaptureSettlement, if anyone would know how to specify which settlement needs to be captured for the actual command to take place. I've tried the condition "SettlementName x" and several variations on this, but the game never takes the condition into account. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Trigger john
    WhenToTest GeneralCaptureSettlement

    Condition SettlementName Patavium

    Affects HeirofAchilles 1 Chance 100
was reported to have worked see:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showp...6&postcount=11

the settlement name should apparently be the city name and not the region name, and it must be the internal name, eg the one used in descr_regions.txt, not necessarily the one displayed by the game if that is different...

is that any different to what you were trying?

Thanks for the reply. That seems to be exactly what I've been doing, except for that last line "Affects HeirofAchilles 1 Chance 100". Is that necessary? Maybe the problem with my trigger is that I have other conditions on it. This is what I have:

    WhenToTest GeneralCaptureSettlement

    Condition SettlementName Chersonesos
    and I_SettlementOwner Sauromatia = slave
    and I_SettlementOwner Phanagorea = slave
    and I_LocalFaction dacia

The game executes the command regardless of what settlement the general captures (although the other conditions seem to have an effect). My best guess would be that it is the last condition "I_LocalFaction dacia" that could be having an adverse effect. What do you think? Thanks again!

oh sorry I was giving example from trait trigger - hence the effects line

you look like you've got a script specific problem if its the local faction bit so I'm not going to be any use on that.... sorry!

What do you mean by a script specific problem? I just find it strange that the game does not recognise all the conditions. Do problems like this happen often?

I really just meant I couldn't help much as you're using script and I'm not a scripter. I think there is more you can do in script than in trait triggers but I don't know limitations.

Have you tried as an experiment taking out the Local_faction or one of the other conditions?

And yes things quite often don't work out as you expected sometimes it turns out to be something you're missing, sometimes the game...

Have just peeked at someone elses script (it is Alex one but should be similar)

they use the capturesettlement command like:
    monitor_event GeneralCaptureSettlement FactionType romans_julii
    and SettlementName Name
    console_command .........
    end_monitor
without the WhenToTest , I'm not sure you'd have that part in script, sorry again if I was misleading you earlier.
