Default Any way to change the accuracy of mangonels?

I just had my first mangonel shot wipe out 59 out of 120 soldiers in a friendly unit that stood 20 metres in front of it right in the beginning of a bridge battle between saladin and richard. When i say fisrt, i mean my first mangonel shot ever (talk about good first impressions eh). Now i see either 2 possibilities for this, either richard had planted a group of spies among my mangonel crew, or saladin was doing a handstand when he gave the order to fire, leading to the confusion of which way was actually up.

Needless to say, i'd like to mod the mangonel to fire at nearest CA office if possible, but i'll settle for half-decent accuracy.

Wait, wait, you want mangonels to be MORE accurate? They can wipe out hundreds of soldiers in one shot already, the occasional misfire is a good price to pay for that kind of firepower. You also shouldn't be standing 20 meters in front of one... keep them as close to your lines as possible to minimize the odds that a keg will explode prematurely and rain death upon your own men.

If you really want to persist in this madness, however, I can't help you. I don't have the faintest idea how to change the accuracy, but I would like to know how to mod the splash radius, and maybe how to mount them on elephants. Imagine: instead of gun and cannon armed panzerphants, you've got flame cannon and manogel armed flammenwerfants! Pure stampy death. I want this unit, so someone tell us how to mod the mangies, will you?

I dont think its madness. Madness is deducting from what i said that i want flamethrowing elephants. Also, im not sure if your deduction skills are the only ones lacking, or if your perceptiveness is too, but by 20 metres i mean practically right in front of the mangonel since the unit itself is probably 15 metres deep considering i was defending a bridge. Order ORDER!! lets move on..

Look at what ca did to the culverin in the americas campign, accurate as hell now. They are actually worth keeping alive. Maybe one could reduce the devestation from the mangonel as well as increase the accuracy and cost to prevent the lotto effect it has now.

No, practically in front of it would be about 2 or 3 meters- a few man lengths at the most. 20 meters is roughly 22 yards, or about a quarter the length of an American football field. When you've got a half ton of wood and metal lobbing explosive barrels of oil over your head, you want to stay in the end zone, not at the 25 yard line. Even better, stick your men behind the mangonels, mixed in with the crew, that way you'll be even safer and still be able to "defend" your artillery if and when the time comes.

And where's the sense in making mangonels LESS devestating? I'd rather they get more devestating and less reliable- maybe to the point where the barrel will randomly explode while still in the firing arm and shower your lines with a sixty square meters of burning flames. That'd be exciting!

P.S. I know you don't want flamethrowing elephants. I want flamethrowing elephants, I want them more than anything else in the world at the moment, and as soon as I make those Pavise Gothic Cretan Retinue Longbowmen I've been meaning to whip up, I'll try my hand at creating them.

    Wrong sir.

Its the new assassin ability called "disable grinds in mangonel" with about 50% chance. If he fails he is being kept captive, and after 2 turns there is a clip from "Prison Break" showing his attempt to escape. he never succeeds though (CA is so biased).

Also make sure your mangonel was recruited in a city with town hall building of better level than brothel. If you had too big brothel, your crew was drunk.

if your town hall was too low, your crew was mentally retarded, not able to calculate their shot.

You have to look closely which is the exact reason (if they were drunk if you zoom they should hiccup)
