Playing as Egypt too easy?

I started my Egypt campaign today. But it seems like it's just way too easy. You start with a massive amount of units so I was able to blitz the crap out of the Kingdom of Jerusalem and conquer half the lands of the Principality of Antioch. Even on Vh/H it seems too easy. So to make this a challenging campaign I suppose I'll just have to disband some units and not immediately send them to the battlefield right?

thing is about geographical position. every nation that has at least one side safe or surrounded by water that is not much likely to see a drop, is easy. egypt has 3 sides, from north you are quite safe by sea, safe from south and safe from west. only side is east that you have to deal with. of course its easy. same with byzantium, novgorod, denmark, HRE, apache, mayans, ireland and norway !!

these nations are not recommended ot play with since are too easy : )

true dat. kingdom of jerusalem is also not THAT hard since you'll prolly deal with egypt only and maybe turks if a jihad is launched. but antioch really keeps the **** from you :p

antioch is quite fun actually, and more challenging.

if you like a real challenge try teutonic order in teutonics campaign. you have really no income, little units, and the worst spread out lands i've ever seen. plus novgorod, lithaunia (spelling) and possibly poland gang up on you.

i am most experienced in teutonic campaign and i tell you that playing as teutons is all just about diplomacy.

if you somehow manage to get in nice touch with mongols (they are religious fanatics but they do ally from time to time, especially if you have common enemy - lithuania)

you cant talk with novgorod but denmark is open for alliance.

poland loves you, it wants alliance with you immediately.


watch out for HRE by the way, last game (and i played 4 times that campaign) it beat the ****** out of poland (i didnt notice) and took my thorn !

the problem is that enemy AI isn't attacking by sea
or defending citys far from the border

I just took 4 armies and invaded Egypt by sea,
i took 5 major cieties in no time moved thier and attacked immediatly.

They don't seem to defend their cities in Egypt to any great extent unless they are on the frontier.

The AI never really seems to garrison cities that are on the border. They seem to have no squalor or something like that.

Basically, the computer can't handle an early blitz. If you want a challenge, don't blitz at all, or if you have to, just blitz the rebel provinces.

And you're right about Teutonic campaign, I'm currently at war with Lithuania, Novgorod, and Denmark, and they are all currently sieging a city or have a large army threateningly close to a woefully under garrisoned city. Poland is neutral to me after we had a pretty short, but intense, war, where I took their largest citadel and another large city, but he called a ceasefire (and paid me 5000 gold) when my only reliable allies, the Germans, started attacking his western provinces. I'm pretty sure they are only waiting until they can build their military back up to attack me again.

The Mongols, interestingly, just don't seem interested in conquest. I don't think they have been at war the whole time, and it's like 70 turns in.
