best mod till that day
I played Anno Domini, Long Road and DLV before.
DLV was beautiful mod...In 3.2 edition. I don't want to say "oh, now they are bad guys"
but it's true. Of course - true for me and for my preferences. There is a lot of people who still likes that mod.
But it was too much for me. In my opinion - they added to many "changes". Changes that weren't tested in battle and gave strange effects. It's very good lesson - don't change too much if we don't know how this changes would work with other changes.
A lot of new factions. But these factions are only "factions". I want one really good new faction then 5 clones. Really one faction was Eire for example. BTW - some new factions killed game in my opinion. Jerusalem Kindom. Armenia. Teutonic Order caused that muslim factions were outnumbered. It was strange to see how Jerusalem Kingdom conquer all middle east.
Extra payments for troops outside the city was good idea. But we also gained more money for trade and for resources. So all extra salaries were quickly balanced with new profits. AI gained large amounts of money that he cannot use. Extra troops appearing in enemy cities stop AI players from expanding. Many small new kingdoms created situation that AI players were excomunicated very often. They also ddin't have a lot of terrains to expand.
If we added RC system which is Pinkos mod - Bodyguards started to be unstoppable. Because of a lot new traits generals were very hard to kill. We don't risk to loose them in battles. They started to be main weapon. Deadliest weapon. With 7-9 points of experience they were nearly invicious. 10 attack. 10 charge. 22 defense. German Tigers on medieval battlefield. During a lot of battles I never lost generals because of "accident"
In SS I lost him only because of stupid charge (It was stupid charge - I did it to check what would be effect) in first seconds of battle.
I just started to play SS, a lot but it seems that it's great mod. Strong islamic nations. Many new units. Really new units. Old, good factions - so old factions could grow strength and we have strong enemies, not many small weak.
Of course - there is a lot of people who wanted to include as many factions as there can be. But for my - the best game was in earliest DLV that I played - 3.2. For others "my disadvantages" could be "advantages". So it's only my personal opinion.
I wrote it down because many people think about which mod they should try. In this moment I recommend SS
