Temple Descriptions
Descriptions of the temple types are given in xgm/data/text/export_buildings.txt. Factions always have suitable descriptions for the temples that they can build from scratch, but often when they upgrade the temples of other cultures, the names and descriptions they get are less than ideal. For example, when the Carthaginians upgrade temples, they often get stuck with the Greek deity names and descriptions for that temple type. What we need is new deity names and descriptions to fill in the blanks.
Ideally this would be a job for someone with an interest in ancient religions and a little skill in modding text files, who could work on the export_buildings.txt directly. failing that, you can use this thread to post new deity names and descriptions. Posts should include:
-The culture group or specific faction that the new description is for (i.e. Romans, Carthaginians, Eastern, etc).
-The temple type that the new description is for (i.e. leadership, trade, forge, etc).
-The name of the god.
-A proposed description. This is the most important bit.
Descriptions do not have to be long, but they should be interesting, and include more than just the name of the god and its primary attributes. Try to include something interesting about the mythology of the deity, the manner in which the deity was worshiped, or the way in which the deity was depicted, and try to imitate the style of the existing temple descriptions.
Here is an example to work from:
Culture:Greek factions
Temple: temple_of_forge
Name: Hephaestus
Description: This Shrine is dedicated to Hephaestus, the lame God of Metalworkers and Smiths. In this aspect he is celebrated for his weapon-making skills. These are considerable, and it is Hephaestus who made the arms and armour for all the great heroes, including the Shield of Achilles.
Adding New Descriptions.
To add the new descriptions into the game only one file needs to be modified: export_buildings.txt. Each temple type has up to five levels. Each level needs a generic set of descriptions, and then specific descriptions for each culture or faction. Here's an example of one level:

The game looks for faction specific descriptions first, then culture specific descriptions, and finally, if it can't find either of those then it uses the generic descriptions.
The valid culture types are: barbarian, carthage, eastern, egyptian, greek, roman. Note that "carthage" is the culture name used in this file - "carthaginian" is not valid, and as far as I know there is no faction specific name for Carthage that can be used in this file.
The valid faction names are: romans_julii, romans_brutii (GCS rebels), romans_scipii (Roman rebels), slavs (Ind. Gauls), macedon, egypt, seleucid, parthia, pontus, gauls, germans, britons (Baktria), armenia, dacia (Saba), greek_cities, numidia (Carthage rebels), scythia, spain (Iberians), thrace.
For the current list of temple descriptions we will need descriptions for: generic, barbarian (used for gauls, and ind. gauls), germans, spain, scythia, thrace, carthage (used for carthage and numidia), egytptian (used for egypt), eastern (I think this should be used for armenia), pontus, saba, parthia, greek (used for greek_cities, romans_brutii, macedon, and seleucid), slavs, and roman (used for romans_julii, and romans_scipii).
The code "\n\n" is used for paragraph breaks.
