Okay, I will try to explain:
The word comes from Old Germanic "marh" horse and "scalc" servant.
Wich means something like "stable-keeper".
It is spelled differently:
English: Marshal
American-englisch: Marshall
German: Marschall
The Marschall is one of the highest or the highest military rank.
So you would say "Marshal George" or "Marschall Heinrich von Sachsen".
