Why is it the Latin Cross not Greek Cross??
Why is it the Latin Cross not Greek Cross??
I guess because CA doesn't place so much value in realism and historical accuracy (no offense, but why had there to be a "Rome - Total Realism" Mod?)
The symbol of the Holy Roman Empire is also not correct. It should look like this
instead of this

Actually, no. They only had the two-headed eagle after 1400. The game starts much earlier.

Why do people always think they can comment on CA's historical accuracy? If you think you know everything, at least check it beforehand. It's very easy, just google what you're about to say before you say it!
Also, to the original post, I am Greek, and we don't use the Greek Cross that much. It doesn't represent the cross of Christ, it's an older symbol.

And it lasts till after 1400.
Very funny - I am german !Why do people always think they can comment on CA's historical accuracy? If you think you know everything, at least check it beforehand. It's very easy, just google what you're about to say before you say it!
And I checked it before I said it !
Of course we had the two-headed eagle not at the time the game starts. But the symbol in MTW2 is not correct after all (the colors are wrong!) - and it is wrong after 1400.
The two-headed eagle would have been the more appropriate choice in my oppinion. At least it doesn't look like a fried chicken.

@HBBB:
*rofl*
Actually I'm playing not as HRE in my current campaign - I'm playing byzantium, because they are the true Roman Empire and I want to lead it to it's old glory (continue the work from RTW, one could say).
But in my current campaign the HRE is half conquered by Denmark and is a vasall of Poland. That is really a shame !![]()

Orthodox christians have both types. Only so named "Hospitaliers" or "St. John" chross is not presented in Orthodox.
This is not important.
So when is the Greek Cross used??
can you imagined Jesus being on the greek cross lol... funny...
No need anymore. At this point in the campaign, I have destroyed Genoa and Milan, and am buying Milan's cities and gifting them back to France! Love playing superpower.*COUGH Use mods. Milans OPedness pissed me off too. So silly having someone no ones ever heard of own everyone.![]()
in the bible the word cross in Greek Actually Translates to a Pole or a piece of Timber. The Cross was actually created by false religions. Early Christians did not use or worship the cross. Therefore, we Christians should not actually be worshiping The Holy Cross.
*Edit*
You might want to worship these more.
If you want to Worship a Christian symbol WORSHIP THE FISH. What should you eat every Friday? .... Fish
The 2nd Image is just a roman Christian symbol. i don't know alot about it but apparently it was some sort of sign in the sky. I once heard it was a meteor trail or something simular.

Well, I don't think its fit to say ppl should 'worship' any of these or the cross symbol (but lets save that argument for the off-topic forum), but the cross and fish are two of the oldest Christian symbols. It is true that the fish does predate the cross symbol, though. I guess the early Christians though it strange to paint symbols of a killing device (imagine having electric chairs or firing squads painted on your walls), especially when many of them were being crucified.
In all fairness...
In kingdoms... apaches worship the Great Spirit... however they only mention the Sun God?
Oh... wont someone think of the children?
I have read somewhere that the "XP" symbol is older than Christianity.
Isn't worshiping a fish, or a cross for that matter, idolatry? The fish was used early on as a sign to identify ones self to other Christians in a time when worshiping Christ would meet you the same fate as the Lord Himself. The cross was not a popular symbol of early Christians, as the religion spread amongst the gentiles it was adopted as a symbol, however, whatever theological disagreements I may have with the modern gentile forms of Christianity, I would not go as far as to call them false.
As for using the fish symbols in M2TW, the game takes place far into the era when the cross was being used. The fish was not needed to covertly identify yourself as a member of a community as society had reached the point where you could be put to death for not worshiping the Church, oops I mean Christ.
Indeed

well the XP is actually the first two Greek letters of the word Christ.
As a pre-Christian symbol, the Chi-ro signified good fortune. The Chi ro became an important Christian symbol when adopted by the Roman Emperor Constantine, representing the first two letters in the name of Christ- the Chi, or 'ch,' and Rho, or 'r.' According to Church Father Eusebius, on the eve of the Battle of the Milvan Bridge, the Emperor saw the emblem in a dream, with the inscription, "By this sign, you shall conquer." According to the story, the battle was won. In return for the victory, Constantine erected Christian churches.
Jesus Chirst of Latern Day Saints dont wear crosses cause its a symbol of his death and it go against the commandments. shall have no false idols. Think about it if you don understand what I mean
