    Default List of Known/Fixed Bugs for RTRPE v1.9

    1. You`ve just installed RTRPE and when you click start campaign, you get a CTD!
    Solution/Details: Delete your map.rwm files. They can be in one of these places:
    * c:\RTW\data\world\maps\base
    * c:\RTW\data\world\maps\campaign\base
    * c:\RTW\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign
    Alternatively, run the "campaign_map_reset.bat" batch file located in your RTW folder. That will delete the map.rwm files automatically.

    2. Right clicking a unit in the buildings panel causes a CTD.
    Solution/Details: This bug has been known since earlier release and until now there's no known cure. We advice that you view any units from the unit panel, instead of the building panel. This feature is a new one introduced post RTW 1.2 patch.

    3. CTD when a city is about to revolt.
    Solution/Details: This happens sometimes when cities are trying to revolt to another faction. You need to install the revolt CTD hotfix from HERE. Also, it appears that leaving just one unit in the city(not more, not 0) helps the city in revolting fine. There is a whole discussion on this issue here at twc and here at the totalwar.org.

    4. CTD when you are about to take a city and you click one of the options(occupy/enslave/exterminate).
    Solution/Details: We don`t know what exactly causes this bug which also happens in other mods, not being specific to RTRPE. It especially happens during the AI turn when your besieging army is attacked by another AI army from outside. You win the battle and completely destroy the army inside which allows you to claim the city, but the game CTDs when choosing one of the options. Afaik this is random. So playing the battle again or a few more times can end with success. That is why it might be good to press esc and save the game after the battle, but prior to clicking on the occupy/enslave/exterminate buttons.
    Someone suggested that having the game option "follow AI movement" turned on might help.

    5.You get a CTD in the region of 66 BC.
    Solution/Details: It`s an old problem dating since the time of RTR 6 Gold. It was reported for the previous versions and seems to be related to hardcoded features. Still, a number of people have passed that date successfully and a test involving all factions controlled by the AI also went fine. Since all the people experiencing this CTD were playing the romans and all the others were playing different factions it seems that it only happens in the roman campaign.
    If you are indeed playing a roman campaign take a look at this proposed solution.

    6. The victory conditions in RTRPE v1.9 do not show up in game.
    Solution/Details: A few people have reported this. It will be looked into, the root of the probelm not being apparent atm.

    7. In the long campaign you have 50 provinces and control the required regions, but you are not told that you`ve won.
    Solution/Details: This was reported again for RTRPE v1.9 and might be related to the previous issue. It will be looked into. Other then the fact that you are not declared winner when meeting the required conditions, it has no other apparent consequence.

    8. The levy hoplites appear in game with a vanilla texture instead of the RTR one.
    Solution/Details : Read this post.

    9. Some units are silent when you click them in battle.
    Solution/Details : The reason for it is that some units are not implemented in the right files. Nobody has done this yet so there`s no easy to install patch for this. But if you feel up to it here`s a guide on how to mod the voices and other sounds the units make:

    I think my prob in not being able to play RTR v1.9 is in some incorect rtw.exe files, because I use -'strange'- version for now..

    What you're asking (or even mentioning) is something that's illegal all over the world and also it's against TWC rules to ask about cracks etc.

    p/s: you can get a legit copy cheap nowadays.

    hello

    I'm a very big fan of rtr p and spent hours playing it.
    But don't have much luck with it, after a couple of ctd's I finaly had it working fine and was close to 100 vc when my computer crashed and I lost the save game.

    And now I have a ctd in 258vc when the AI is turning Carthage. ( I just took 3 of their cities in north africa). Before my computer crash(not game related) it was working fine with the same set up. The only difference is that this time I installed the ctd hotfix right away and the last time I did that when the ctd started to appear.In both cases I was playing thr Romans

    Current and last set up.

    RTW early version
    BI
    1.6 BI patch
    RTR 1.9
    CTD hotfix

    please help

    You have the -show_err command, right? It should be there already if you use the desktop icon the mod makes for itself. Do you get any error message?

    A number of CTDs during Carhage`s turn have been reported so far. I don`t know what it is. Someone suggested that there can be a name issue for Carthage and when the character with that name is generated the game crashes, but so far noone has identified such an inaccuracy.

    Try this:
    3. Also, it has been said that the following method might help. If you have a CTD during the Ai turn you should reload the saved game(you`d better have one ) and then use the toggle_fow command(type ` then write toggle_fow, then hit enter and then hit ` again to make the panel go away) so you can watch the moves during the Ai turn. Rememeber where the CTD occurs and the next time press esc right before it would have heppened. Then save the game and exit. Start the game again and load this saved game. With some luck(it didn`t work for me in one example) you`ll be able to continue the campaign.
    If that doesn`t work... I don`t know. You can try and go back a few years or make some changes on the campaign map(lift sieges and so on).

    thanks for the quick reply.

    Followed the IA and the ctd occurs when a carthagenian army moves from just outside of carthago nova to the end (maximum) of its turn then it ctd. Further no error messages. And I do not have anything roman around there that can prevent this army to move.

    I did the suggested fix but then an carthagenian army attacks (my)a roman army in north africa and it crashes after this battle still in the carthagenian turn.

    The only other good thing with this is that it is the first time I could see the entire rtr campain map because I never came far enough to enjoy this.
    (again this is also due to computer crashes).

    Excuse me Florin 80, but is it normal if i can't get the "Latin infantry unit" in the roman campaign when i already have the building !?

    The latin infantry is only for factions other then Rome. It basically replaces for them the previous aor(italian spearmen, swordsmen etc.) when the marian reform happens. Romans can`t recruit this unit.

    There seems to be a problem with the greek levy hoplites. The Hoplitai (Levy).
    The issue is that in EDU a mercenary_unit attribute was added, but in DMB there isn`t texture entry for mercs. This causes them to use a default vanilla texture instead of the proper RTR one. What you need to do is open(use notepad for example) the text file export_descr_unit from the location: Rome - Total War/data. Then search for this entry and delete the red part:

    Hi... I have Rome Total Realism Platinum Edition... i followed all passage and i can use without any problem the game... But when i choose Macedonians in 276 BC Summer, ending the turn, i have a CTD... What's the error?

    Heh! That`s my question, not yours. Do you start the game via the desktop shortcut that the mod creates for itself? If so, you should have the -show_err command implemented and you might receive an error message. Have you received such a message when it crushed?

    What version of RTRPE do you have?
    Does the CTD happens right after you end turn or during some other faction`s turn? If it`s the former, there are chances that it`s a revolt ctd. Try and install the revolt ctd hotfix:

    Other then this, do you happen to have an italian version of RTW or some other version than the english one?

    Rome Total Realism Platinum Edition Final Beta sound like a very old version (v1.4).

    The latest (current version) is v1.9 + CTD hotfix.

    Hi
    I a CTD that I need help with ,after formating my hard drive I reinstalled rtw + patches , down loaded & installed plat 1.9 from file planet , then deleated map.rwm, put desk top icon on and played game starting with the icon, no problem, since then every time I try to start the game I get the activision map screen for about 20 sec then CTD. I have reinstalled every thing a number of times also tried with barbarian exp. with map.rwm in and deleated with new desktop icons the game work fine until I had to format the hard drive any help would be greatfully accepted

    RTRPE is not uploaded on file planet afaik. Are you sure you don`t mean RTR TIC?
    As for the CTD... Hard to say what`s wrong. Did you start the game via the desktop icons that RTR creates for itself? If so, did you get any error message after the crash?

    Sorry should have been file front, I have tried starting the game from the desktop icon rtr creates and the start menue, no error message just the activision map screen then black for a few seconds then the desk top thanks for the reply

    Obviously, this shouldn`t happen. I would have asked again if you`re sure you have installed the mod in the right folder and over a clean install of RTW v1.5, but even if the answer would have been no you still should have got an error message after the crash.
    Are you playing it on vista by any chance?

    Playing on xp, yes I have installed it afew times now , followed word for word the instructions on the web site, but like I said every time it works first time then just CTD , I might try a different down load site reinstalling see if that changes snything

    hi... i've downloaded the 1.9... but:hmmm: is it normal that greek levy hoplites have macedonian hoplites skin of vanilla rome????:hmmm::hmmm::hmmm:
