Default Simple question: yes or no?

    Hello,

no time to discuss endlessly whether or not to buy the expansion. Quick advice highly appreciated.

    I did not enjoy mIItw.

I'm a little confused, but given your desire for quick advice . . .

If you didn't like M2TW, you won't like Kingdoms. It's basically just the four new campaigns with a few new units, some of which are pissing some people off (e.g. Byzantine Firethrowers), regardless of their historical reality. The gameplay is the same, I would argue that the AI is more ruthless, but others disagree. Sorry this is long, but I am obsessed with being balanced. And without knowing why you didn't like M2TW, I can't really tell you for sure.

Bottom line: don't like M2TW? Don't buy Kingdoms.

Did you dislike m2tw period or just vanilla and enjoyed the mods instead? If the latter, buy due to the fact what modders will be able to do with the new features. If the former, uhm, don't buy, obviously. It's an expansion, not a totally different game.

Neah, if you didn't like vanilla, Kingdoms won't be enjoyable for you either.

Nonsense, it depends on why you didn't like Medieval. If you don't like the core gameplay, with buildings, campaign map, and battles, then no Kingdoms. But if you were missing a more in-depth approach to each faction, and simply wanted a more focused, more intense campaign session with much uniqueness across the various factions and scenarios, then Kingdoms is perfect.

the tranquility of servitude greater than
the animating contest for freedom, go
home from us in peace. We seek not
your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch
down and lick the hand that feeds you,
and may posterity forget that ye were
    our countrymen."

My short summary (I'm a very specific person, so this is challenging)
AI:Much better, maybe due to close proximity.
    Pace:amazingly fast
Rosters:great for new factions, especially Eire, Wales, Apachean Tribes, and a few others whose names escape me.
Soundtrack: amazing, especially for the Brittania pre-battle track.
Overall: I think its a great expansion, and not too pricey either!
