Selecting the army you control?

well...once again the title is the question...when you command 2 armies is it possible to select which one is your primary army before battle?

In my british campaign I have been attacked by 3 norwegian armies and I myself had 2 armies...one which consisted of 2 archer units and one with ultra badass elite units. the AI attacked the archers and so I had to let the AI control the other army...and they screwed it totally up...they didn't even kill 100 enemies before running away and my archers fled after killing 500 enemies, too...if I had controled my "melee-army" I would have easily beaten that enemy...so...is there a way to decide which army you want to control before you start the battle?

I think you have to be the aggressor to select which you control, and to do so initiate the combat with the army you prefer.
