    Icon1 Weird campaign stories

    Hiya,

Experienced some weird campaign where things didn’t go the usual way? Tell us about it!

In my campaign as the Turks I moved everyone at the start into Portugal/Spain territory.
Around turn 17 I was finally there and started whipping them out. I had to get rid of my starting area countries so I sold one to Spain for 3k (they didn’t have more) and expected them to die really fast without their family or armies nearby.
To my surprise they are still alive and kicking many turns later.

I only keep the Spain area and won’t expand beyond that besides some tactical countries here and there as strongholds.
The ones next to The Moors and the 2 islands are my gift to them once I’ve build some of the basic buildings there. (Currently still at war with them though)

As an Islamic faction I try to keep the other 2 also alive no matter what. Makes for strong Jihads you know.

The weirdest thing is that the Mongols have been roaming for a long time without actually doing anything. Like 8 full stacks just doing the whole world sightseeing tour. No idea when they actually start fighting...

(By the way, (how) is it possible to capture that coastal village in the lower left corner before the New Age event?)

Any tips or suggestions are always welcome.
    Tell us your weird campaigns!

Rome is a rebel settlement in my game and the pope is roaming around with a full stack army. It's wierd... a priest in the stance of an army general holding the huge banner

    I'm playing 1.2 vanilla, BTW.

In my Hungarian campaing i have an all-allied-to-each-other alliance of Egypt , The Byzantine Empire, Hungary (duh) HRE, Poland and Russia.

There's peace in the middle east and in the balcans for as long as i can remember.

there was the time when I was playing as France that I expanded to frances normal territory then focused on gaining money to buy and sell territorys untill the entire map was ****ed around. Iberia belonged to the hre, italian states in ireland, scots in jerusalem, fatimids in russia...

In my game with Scotland, the pope has taken some settlements in North-Africa, and roam around in Europe with armies, doing nothing.

Hhmm I haven't been able to get there on foot from the settlement to the right. "There's no path" they keep saying etc...
Its weird, you have to slowly explore bits of territroy by moving your army to the edge of the black spot near the west coast of africa and slowly move farther as more territory is seen....

If you get Timbuktu then go west you can get Arguin that funny little place you talked about.

I was once playing as Spain and conquered all of Iberia. Then the Moors ask me to assasinate thier King. I found it a little wierd. So I did, then they asked me to kill thier king again. I failed to do that so I just conquered tem.
The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him,

But because he loves what is behind him.

In pretty much all my campaigns the Papal States grow steadely.
They ex-com someone, take some land here and there and then they become best friends again but no one ever takes land BACK from the Papal States and the islamic factions are usually too far away to do anything about it also.

Never had them go on a rampage. Guess that depends on how many factions get ex-commed in each campaign.

When I played the Moors ( 1,2 vanilla) I walked there by foot
But there's a bug I think, because U can't sail from there. My boat just stood by the shore and did nothing because there is a extremly small area of impassable ocean. And U of course can't sea trade from this settlement.

I think you have to get there by foot, actually. I usually bring a diplomat there instead of armies, and then buy it. After a few rebellions it'll be yours. I think the not being able to sail from there is intentional, not a bug. It'd be too easy otherwise (though I don't see a historical reason why it should be impossible to sail those waters, and if you got that settlement, finding America should be easier, but I don't think it is).

Remember that alliance that made the entire eastern part of the map into a calm prosperous place? Well, the alliances broke off into two factions : Hungary Russia and Turkey vs Egypt Poland and The Byzatine Empire.

I also believe that pretty much all of those factions constantly sacked settlements, as most of their reputations went down to despicable after twenty turns of constatly territory changing.

Right now the Byz only controlls their island provinces, i controll all of their European areas (exepct for Constantinople, that is under Turkish control), the turks controll all of modern Turkey and their inicial lands, the russians and poles are constantly winning\loosing settlements, so there's not much of a point in describing their territories, and Egypt controls all of middle east that is not held by Turkey.

Oh, and i got 1000 denari from a sucessfull jihad (Hungary here) because i helped the turks on their siege of constantinople.

I had never played such a (vanilla) peacefull and calm game, where all my borders where secure and money was pouring in like water (to both me and the other nations), only for this huge alliance to break and turn what was once a peacefull eastern europe and middle east into, and i intend the pun, a total war.
