Default PRO DEO ET REGE & the Kingdoms Expansion

An announcement of sorts. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on the Kingdoms Expansion the other day and spent this past weekend porting PDER over to it. Luckily, Unspoken Knight released his Retrofit Mod, so I was able to use that as a base.

So sometime this week I will be releasing a Kingdoms version of PDER for those of you with the Expansion. This will basically be the same mod as the current up-to-date patched version of PDER, but intended to include some of the new Kingdoms features. These include:

    - Hotseat Campaigns.
    - Control AI Reinforcements.
    - Boiling Oil.
    - AI Unit Recruitment tweaks.
    - Campaign AI Tweaks.

This version of PDER will also include a few other notable differences from the latest version:

-Novgorod will be a playable faction in the Grand Campaign
-The AOR Recruitment Pools will include some of the units found in each of the Kingdoms mini-campaigns (e.g. Horseboys, Teulu Skirmishers, Burgher Pikemen, etc.)

Right now, I'm writing up a batch file that will copy over these necessary files (e.g. textures, mesh files, etc) for Novgorod and the new AOR units from your hard-drive to the PDER folders.

This has to be done like this for copyright reasons. Simply put, I cannot release the necessary files with the PDER installer for you to download, as it would be releasing Kingdoms material to people who may not have it yet. Rather, if you have these files already on your hard-drive, then this batch file will copy them over allowing you to play PDER using Kingdoms units.

Now a sneak peak of PRO DEO ET REGE: Kingdoms Edition!

Good job Socal, always looking forward to new additions! Some interesting scripting changes from the teutonic campaign, like the computer will start to ganging up on you. After you have over 20 settlements and then go into almost assault mode after 35. Lots of cool stuff with the Kingdoms! Another thing I think would be great for PDER for religious type units to start to have them use the region_religion lvl. I think the best is the spawning of factions from the britanna mod, ie baron alliance. Fun times with kingdoms I must say!

Yeah, the porting over was the easy part. The fun stuff still remains! I'm particularly excited about some of these things:

    Merging two factions mid-campaign

Changing a battle model part-way through a campaign

Switching faction icons part way through a campaign

I'm thinking these features may be handy! Looks like we now change the general battle model for each era! Or a script to represent the merging of the
Kingdoms Castile and Aragon! Good stuff!
