I can't do seiges

When I try to attack or defent a settlement, the game crashes when the gates or walls break down. It says, "Medieval II total war shut down because of an unspecified error". I can't win the game like this, so please help.

I had the same bug, and it was very annoying. That doesn't bother me anymore, as I reinstalled the game, nothing worked at all, the game wouldn't start (1.2/1.3/kingdoms, none worked). Now I've reinstalled and playing 1.00 (only version that I have never had a problems with)

As for solution, I downloaded 1.2 two times and installed one over the another, and it almost worked (couldn't play sieges and had some other bugs). I, too would like to know how to get rid of these "unspecified errors".

Perhaps it has something to do with the computer? I've got 7600GS, 1Gt ram 3,2Ghz Pentium 4.
