Distance LoD (level of detail) and a possible bug
2 questions:
1) I remember having had a level of detail (concerning units) that was always highest and didnt use low detail models. it was back in MTW2 v1.0 or so.
how can i achieve that. and back then, it didnt drain on the system resources...
2) In SS 4.1 i got several missions with the reward being "some of the best units you can recruit". i always got 4 cogs at my capital. now i have 20 cogs. none built, all through missions.
I use SS 4.1 + lusteds second latest CAI + Real Combat 1.3b
EDIT: 1) I already found out: (for everyone else to know) manually change the value in "medieval2.preference.cfg" "unit_detail= higher" to "unit_detail=highest". somehow CA made it so that you cant set highest detail from options menu, even if you choose "highest" there...

2) It's sometimes random...I think the fact that you've gotten cogs so much is just a freak of coincidence.

Re: Distance LoD (level of detail) and a possible bug
1) I had the same problem, when using SS or other mod, game settings get stored in Stainlessteel.preference.cfg or similar, and settings changed in game are lost when you restart game. You have to edit cfg file directly.
2) I guess that "some of the best units you can recruit" is based on unit cost, can you recruit heavy cav or something more expensive than that? I usually get mailed knights early in the game as reward.

I believe those rewards are random based on what you can recruit. I once was getting only ladiya (word meaning "a boat" in Russian) as Novgorod. Another campaign I played with them I got nothing but peasants. So on. It's all about luck I think.
