i just got Kingdoms but i want to make sure this is right, do you have to download 1.2 before you can install the game. Help would be appreciated

You can have 1.2 or not, dosent matter i think.

From what I read it does matter (seen some error about not being able to patch 1.00.00 to 1.03.00), so upgrading first seems a good idea - I did, and had no problems.

Yes, i got that message downloading 1.2 now! Oh crap it's over 600MB.

But when i attempt to install the game it says cannot patch 1.3 to 1.0 or whatever im just going to get 1.2 off the internet and try to install it then.

I had the reverse problem. I had to uninstall the game and reinstall without the 1.2 patch.

The expansion installed 1.2 and 1.3 and finally installed properly. Very strange.

For completeness sake, I had diskversions of both M2TW and Kingdoms, only downloaded the 1.2 patch, naturally. Could be different for the downloaded game versions, somehow. Which probably explains why you shouldn't mix them, or at least not the Steam versions. Argh.

You can actually install 1.2 and 1.3 separately from the DVD. First, open the folder in your DVD driver, click update 2, and then setup. That is 1.2. Then, click update 3, setup again. That is 1.3.

Good to know it's on the DVD as well, so I can ditch the 600 megs I had downloaded before I got Kingdoms - its more actually, it unpacks itself first, so make that well over a gig. Zzzzzzzzzzap.

Yes, if you do not have the 1.2 patch, it automatically installs when trying to install Kingdoms. If you have any (unmodded) version of M2TW installed, the just pop in the Kingdoms disc and hit the install button.

Kingdoms patches M2TW to 1.2 (1.3) automatically if you haven't done it beforehand... it's also written in the manual

Mine says 1.4 when you got to audio or video options 1.4 is in the top right corner. Did you buy it at walmart too?
