i have a serious problem.....

i am running vista 32 bit home premium. i installed it about 2 months ago and right after installing it i installed several games.

all installed fine until M2TW. it took me about 3 hours to get the install to even open. once it opened it took hella long to finish installing.

now that i have purchased kingdoms its really pissing me off because i have sat infront of my pc for about 2 hrs and cant get the install setup to open. the only way i can get the auto play to work is to run it locally. from there i hit install and the demoshield logo pops up but nothing happens. i mean absolutely nothing!! the dvd drive doesnt even "think".

i also tried opening to folder and launching the launch.exe manually and also setup.exe manually to no avail.

the thing that boggles me is that EVERY OTHER GAME INSTALLS FINE except M2TW! even other activision ( i know its SEGA now) games based of a similar installer install fine.

could it be the demosheild installer packaged with the game?
is there anyway to bypass this problem?


note: all drivers for hardware are up to date

rig specs:

core 2 duo 6300 2.33 GHZ
x1900GT 256mb
2x 80 gig HD
MSI P6N SLI motherboard
LG DVD RW
2 gigs ddr2 ram

Sounds like its an issue with your copy of M2TW if the drive isnt even reading it right. Try copying the entire disc to your hard drive and installing from there.

i might try that.

both kingdoms and M2TW did it. the discs work on my buddies pc.

i was thinking it was my disc drive but if it was would other games install fine?

Did you get both games from the same provider.

IE: Both discs

not one downloaded and the other a disk

problem solved!

i browsed shogun forums and many people were having this problem.

if u have an old dvd player/burner and vista your going to have to spend about 30 bucks for a new one.

went to wally world , just got back and installed the new drive. now it works!

@ sir dinadan: yes both were discs
