    Icon4 Help in Units Sprites

I love this mod but I just like the unit sprites for LOTR:TW for Gondor a little better. They just seem more fantasy-ish for me and make me feel more immersered in the world. I was just wondering if I could take the sprites from LOTR: TW and make them the units for Gondor. Does anyone have any suggestions or instructions on how to go about doing this?

A suggestion: Read all the relevant tutorials and back up your files before trying to change anything!

It's not very hard if you just replace things, but reading the tutorials would be the best way to go, just so you know exactly what you are doing.

Is he talking about skins or sprites ? It seems pretty stupid to just change the sprites, doesn't it ?

I'm assuming he means the unit's appearance generally. Models, textures and sprites (probably unit cards and info too).

I want to be able to transfer the units from Lord of the Rings Total War to the Fourth Age Total War MOD so I have those units when I play the game. I really love the Fourth Age MOD and all of its ideas but I just want to use the models and sprites and unit cards from Lord of the Rings Total War in the game. Would I just copy and paste the appropriate files into the the FATW folder to use them? Or is it more complicated than that? Any help/ feedback would be great!

I'm presuming you don't literally mean all the units do you?
And yes.....i'm afraid it's a bit more complicated than just a quick copy/paste job.

Could you possibly provide a link to an idiots guide? I am very new to modding RTW, my previous modding experiances are only with Paradox strategy games which are pretty straight forward. I am just afraid to mess anything up.
Here's a link to get you started...keep in mind there are parts of it you can disregard as this was written awhile back. For example the parts about recreating file structures. You don't have to do this...as everything now as it's relative to adding units is unpacked.

Well I mostly just want to replace the Gondor units and maybe the Easterling Units. Thanks for your help. I will try it out today after class! Hopefully I don't mess it up horribly

I am no modeler, but i think it's more complicated than that. The folders where those files are stored are:
    bi/ci/data/

    unit_info
    unit
    models_unit
    models_unit/textures
    sprites/sprites_new

I may be forgetting sth, I'm not at my pc now. Perhaps reading through a tutorial would help you quite a lot, until a modeler comes by and answeres your question.
