Sadly, they don't appear in the GC. Like English Armoured Sergeants. There are mods that address this sort of thing everywhere.

Yeah Dismounted Gothic Knights are for situation one on one battles, not for the campaign. Although, you can do this..........create_unit Frankfurt "Dismounted Gothic Knights" 3 3 3 3 and you will have 3 units of these guys in Frankfurt. The numbers are as follows: 1st 3 = how many unit cards you are making. The 2nd is for their experance( you can do up to nine)the others are for their weapons and armor. 3 is the max for the last 2 numbers. Enjoy!

I believe there is another HRE unit that has almost the exact same stats. Make those, disband them, then create these.

    Or, create these, use
add_population Frankfurt -xxx (xxx is the number of people in ONE unit) to remove the corrent # of people from the settlement
    and then
add_money -xxx where xxx is the cost of the unit.

    Then, use the create_unit command.

If you want them in the Grand Campaign, you have to add them to the export_descr_buildings file. Basically just figure out which building that you want them to originate from and add them, following the already existing format.
"There is a difference between what is wrong and what is evil. Evil is committed when clarity is taken away from what is clearly wrong, allowing wrong to be seen as less wrong, excusable, right, or an obligatory commandment of the Lord God Almighty.

Evil is bad sold as good, wrong sold as right, injustice sold as justice. Like the coat of a virus, a thin veil of right can disguise enormous wrong and confer an ability to infect others."

Yeah, either just find some way to balance it out when you create them or edit the text file and make them build-a-ble normally for your campaign, which you might have to restart to get them.

You have to go to your Sega\Medieval 2 Total War\tools\unpacker

There you'll see a bat file called "unpack text", right click on it and select "edit"

It will open a notepad, and there you paste this:

    unpacker.exe --source=..\..\packs\*.pack --destination=C:\Extract\ --verbosity=1 --filter=export_descr_buildings.txt

Save it, then run the .bat file, and it should be pretty straightforward. Once you've extracted it, go to C:\Extract and you will find a "data" folder, open it and you'll have your export_descr_buildings

    And:

    - To use the modified files create a batch file in your Medieval II: Total War folder

    - In the batch file add the following line medieval2.exe --io.file_first

    - NOTE: Due to a timestamp check, the following unpacked files will cause the game to crash and must be deleted before the game is launched:
    data\descr_geography_new.txt
    data\descr_geography_new.db

    - Save the batch file and then launch Medieval II: Total War using the newly created batch file.
Officer to a soldier who refuses to fight: There three types of soldiers who don't have to fight. They are called KIA, MIA and POW and you are not one of them.

    Tosa will be missed.

In the folder: tools/unpacker there is a readme file. That contains all the info you need.

Or just download Retrofit Mod + GUAM and you'll have many more units along with DGK.

yes, it's easier this way + retrofit is cool I play it too (it's more balanced and it has some minor bug fixes)

Does Retrofit and GUAM work with Medieval 2 alone, or does it require Kingdoms as well?

To getontop, I'd recommend unpacking the files, following the instructions posted above. It is far more rewarding in the long run to do that and tinker around in the files yourself and make the game unique to you than to just use other people's work that will never fully fit in with your vision of the game.
