How to capture generals?
Is there a good way to force a capture of a general?
I have tried surrounding him with spears on all sides, but that doesnt work...
(Nothing more fun than capturing a Prince/King and executing them)

I find that if you have a line of pike men as your main infantry line the general of the opposite side will tend to charge it, so when they hit your line wheel your cavalry behind and charge their rear. They will soon after flee and you can chase him down with your cavalry. Then the slaughter can proceed

Nono, Capture him so that you can get the ransom screen with the General on it.
Princes fetch some 8000 florins, etc.
I like to execute them there.

Use the first level horsemen, I.e. scouts, raiders, holibars. Whatever their called, the ones before mailed knights, they get a speed bonus. Once you rout the general they will be able to chase them down easily, along with certain horse archers and mercenary cavalry.

Light cavalry and horse archers do a good job of catching fleeing generals, yeap.
Personally I use Vardariots.

Try to destroy his army before routing him, so that his moralle goes down, then shower him with bolts until most of his bodyguard dies, then attack with a weak charge-value cavalry to make him panic

Flame arrows help if you have enough to knock a few of them down. It's best to charge from the opposite side of the general so as not to kill him in the charge. I know I have killed their general many times from a head on charge.
