Default Odd Happenings with the Baron's Alliance

Forgive me if this has been brought up before, but something happened in my Welsh campaign that seemed very odd.

In my campaign, the Baron's Alliance formed around turn 20-30, and as you can expect they started ravaging the English. By turn 100 England was reduced to 2 provinces. Now here's the odd part. At around turn 110, the Baron's Alliance disappeared, and their former provinces were now owned by the English. The Baron faction leader and his heir were both gone, however a number of generals that were leading armies under the Baron's Alliance were now leading those same exact armies under England. It was quite a surprise to me because the Barons' were my allies, and now the English are at my borders again.

It gets stranger. The "New England" lasted for roughly 2 turns. Then they turned rebel! All the same family members are still there, they still own the same 8 areas, only thing that is different is their faction.

Does anyone know if this is supposed to happen because I found it really odd.

Maybe the Alliance has a specific 'aim' beyond destroying England as the baronial wars did historically. I.E. they beat the main faction so badly the King aquieses to their demands and they join the faction again. Can't imagine what the English are supposed to give up.

Or maybe if when the BA revolts it joins the English lol.

Something similar happened to me while I was playing as Scotland. Barron Alliance fought England and about 10-15 turns after Edward came home they merged with England. I would have known if they were eliminated because they capital and faction heir were close to my border.

I guess a massive rebellion occure in Baron Alliance, which turn their provinces into English one. Then the English fail to solve the problem so the provinces turn rebels.

on my brittania game, as welsh, barons alliance came up, then Edward came back from crusades, battered the barons alliance (and almost wiped me out) then managed to claw way back in, i took a castle for them and they re-emerged.

Then an interesting thing happened, they blitzed england (with my help), strange thing is once england was wiped out, the BA just turned rebel so south east england is all rebel with me around it, which was kinda dissapointing

It did come up with a little text box though saying the barons alliance had done their job and would always be there if anyone tried to rule the whole british isles. maybe if i take london they will re-emerge.

    Anyone else had this?

    I had this happen:

basically, I killed off the entire English royal family (they still owned london and 1 other province to the north as England) and the text came up that the Barons did their job...

At this point all the Baron and English cities that remianed turned rebel.

Made my life easier dunno if it is a bug but would be nice if the Barons gained the English lands rather than they all turning rebel.

That or make the Rebels fight and not passive.

Mmm... it seems that Baron Alliance is not an emerging faction like Roman British in BI... That is not fun at all...

Yeah, my Welsh game neded up even weirder. The BA was kicked the hell out of England, and the two of us got the English crown down to two territories: London, and a lone fort in the middle of Yorkshire where the English king, his heir, and most of his army was holed up. I captured London, got the "Old Order Collapses" message, and suddenly all the BA territories revert back to England. What's more, the old English king stays the king, his son becomes a king, and the old Seneschal of the BA becomes a king, too! Three Kings of England at one time. All the other BA family members become non-Royal generals, and we're at war, like the BA never even existed.

Stranger still, all I had to do was kill the three kings, and the entire English faction collapsed. Seems they didn't have ANY royal family after that, and despite the fact they had a half dozen territories and something like ten generals, their faction was destroyed with a couple of bold assaults. Methinks somebody didn't program the BA/England thing too well.

Yeah, three kings, but no Ice Cube. I don't have any screens with all three at once, but...

The former King of England and his son, now also a king.

    An assassin weighs his options.

The third king was killed in battle. As an added bonus, the Welsh prince you see here is the eldest son of William Wallace, who was married into the royal family, to a daughter of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd. Wallace himself missed his chance to be king (he died of the plague a year before the next guy in line) but at least his children will rule Wales from now on.

I guess so. I am impressive about how English wanted to play rush when I was playing Irish... I saw a full stack attacking me after three turns from beginning... lucky I used very few units (about 6 units) to force English into an assault on bridge, which I played as defence.

The AI made some tactical blunders in Ireland when I started (as ireland). They split their remaining large army and then split out its general on its own and all went in different directions.

My king just hunted them down and killed them all off, Ireland was mine by turn 20.

Likewise later in the game, william wallace appeared and did nothing except sit in his castle and king edward came back from the crusades so he could play around in london while his templar army split up and played a game of chasing with the Baron's Alliance.

Battles on the battle map are more balance but the campaign map is weird (and I'm playing that on Hard).
