Firefox process is already running?

Firefox browser cant be used because it says firefox process is already running, please close or restart your computer....it wasnt open, and i couldnt find the process so i resarted......still says the same thing help?

I've had this problem in the past, not sure why it happens.

Control+alt+delete to bring up task manager and manually end the firefox process. You should be able to reopen firefox then.

Maybe an extension you installed is acting up or something - but yes ctrl alt delete then click the processes tab, it would be firefox.exe.

thats exactly it......the process doesnt appear in the proces list!

and yet the popup says that's the problem....

Get a rock, aim at your CPU (processor) and swing away. Best advice I can give.

Seriously, try reinstalling foxfire, rebooting your computer, check for any and all service updates.

Yeah go for the reinstall, and also maybe scan for viruses/spyware, just to be safe..

Yes, I'd recommend a spyware check. Some of the more constructive spy/malware programs hide themselves as a recognised process name.
(Boot up into safe mode before you run the test - otherwise the 'mask' it hides under will disguise it from the search...)

Of course, it may not be this, it could be all manner of things (registry corruption or similar, for one) but start at the beginning and see what happens.

Try this. If it works, it was something to do with profiles.

Only time it's happened to me it was in the Processes list. Note, NOT Applications.
