    Default Monitor Problem

    Hi,

I have a problem with my Acer AL2216W Monitor. The problem is that the screen just goes black and restores after 5-10 seconds, sometimes this is paired with the message 'Input Not Supported'.

The rest of my specs are:

    Windows Vista
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+
    2.00 Gig RAM
    ATI X1650 series

    anybody knows the solution?

    Ave Konijn,

It seems like you either have a bad connection, bad monitor, or bad graphics card. Are thou any other monitors nearby you can use to test it's your monitor that's the problem? Like from your parent's computer/room mate's computer?

    Hi,

Well, what exactly do you mean by bad?
I recently bought this computer so I can't imagine it being broken already.

    Ave Apprentice Konijn,

Companies like to sell you copper when you asked for gold. Keep that in Mind
This is what 3 things I've narrowed it down too:

    1. Your Monitor's connection to the computer is faulty

    2. Your Graphics card's connection to the rest of your rig is faulty

    3. Your Entire system could be damaged.

Hopefully, it's something like the wire going from monitor to graphics card is lose or faulty or the graphics card may not be the slot fully. These are pretty easy to fix, just check to see if they are in correclty. Hopefully it isn't something like your monitor is faulty, or you graphics card is faulty.

    Hi,

After reading your posts i've reconnected all the wires going from my monitor to my computer. After this, I didn't have trouble with my monitor all day(quite a difference after looking at a black screen every five minutes, just yesterday ). I hope everything is fixed now.

I'd like to thank you both for your help.
