    Default Hotseat in Singleplayer Campaign?

I have a problem and not sure what is causing it but the bat file that says: The Long Road actually gives me a Hotseat Campaign and the one that says Hotseat also gives me a Hotseat Campaign, now all I want to be able to play is a Grand Campaign, I was able to do this before but for some reason now its hotseat all the time?

    Can anyone help?

The reason this could of happened are many, but the solution is one. Re-install.

Likely you modified one of the files, maybe a bad defrag, etc.

If that doesn't work try DL'ing the file again and install.

Thanks Xeno_cws, its working a treat now for me its the best mod as I love long games, however knowing how slow I am can you go past the date that the game would end, as I doubt I will by no means have conquered the whole map let alone the 45 Regions I am asked to control

    Well yes and no.

As it is now with no changes from TLR no.

But you can easily, very easily, extend it yourself with no complications by going to the following file:

    Sega/MTW:2/TheLongRoad/Data/World/Maps/Campaing/Imperial

Here open up Descr_Strat scroll a little (very little) and you'll see see start date, end date, and timescale. This is the set up I use and its perfectly stable.

    start_date 1080 summer
    end_date 1930 winter
    timescale 0.25

With this I start as normal at 1080 but ends some 400 years later. I also edited the timescale so its 4 turns per year instead of 2. This makes is altogether some 1800 turns to conquer the world.

Note 1: Editing Timescale to a number that can't add itself to 1 crashes the game (ie .33 = crash; .25,.5 = fun times)

Note 2: Family members still age at 2 turns per year regardless of timescale. Nothing big all things considered but something you should keep in mind.

Thanks Xeno_cws thats a huge help and a scenario I had been thinking about for a long time but was not able to implement myself, my maths being non-existant! so thanks for doing the work for me

Is that the maximum length you can make the game then? as you stated in your post?

On a sidenote and sorry to ask this as it does'nt really focus on The Long Road mod, but would this also work in Kingdoms?

Many thanks to you for your help

Question 1: No you can make it 3000 or higher in theory.

Question 2: 99.999% sure it will work fine with kingdoms. The only problem maybe the start date so leave it and change the timescale and end date.

Also I have answered your pm, hope that helps as well.

    Have fun!

Many thanks for taking the time to help me out, I'll be leaving Kingdoms aside for now until I have completed my Long Road Campaign, probably have made it impossible on myself by choosing the Scots to play as, but its the woad that does it for me

Hit the english hard before they can get longbow and you'll be fine, if not...

Thanks for the tip m8, they won't know what's hit them!!

I used to play as the English from when I bought the game, but found the French too tough to deal with, always went to ally with them and trade rights, but they always back-stabbed me

Anyway something else I wanted to ask and at present you're the only person replying, I guess alot of the others are playing hard

I notice that each time I start the Scottish Campaign that when I send my spy (Fergus etc......long long name ) into a rebel settlement to spy before I attack that he gets killed each time, so is the Long Road Mod scripted to be like this (not sure if I have said that right) if you don't know then no worries (reason for asking this is mainly because of my building style that it would be an age before I can get another spy)

    Cheers

spy missions have become a lot harder to stop the continious "gates open" sieges.

I see, well thats good for obvious reasons, not nice or much of a challenge to just march straight into a settlement without having to work for it

Just so you know Jekyll, TLR has modified diplomacy so that the constant backstabs are now rare as they are supposed to be.

Especially true if you happen to have a marriage alliance (at least no ones ever back stabbed me when theres a marriage).

Right ok thanks mate, I have noticed that as the Scots the alliances I have (no marriges so far, don't really know how to get one properly as the last time I tried it my princess vanished and the little box that drops down the said of the screen, came down making a noise as if to imply that it did'nt work the way it should have, so have'nt ried it since, but would like to get that right at somepoint

    Thanks Xeno_cws
