Install Problem
I used to play Medieval 2 vanilla without any patches. It worked fine and I never bothered looking for them. After passing the campaign I stopped playing until I found out the expansion was out and picked it up.
When I went to install the campaign, it told me there was an error updating. A google search indicated that I needed to download patch 1.2, apply it, and then run the set-up. I did this and it worked, I didn't get an update error but instead when it began running the Americas Campaign installation, I got an error saying "X file does not match the one in the bin" or something to that effect. It did this for a number of files. Sometiimes pressing "Retry" moved the install along but eventually I just ended up spamming "Ignore" to try and see if it might work. At the end of the installation it told me it had failed and closed on me.
I have never installed any modifications and I just spent 50 bucks on this game. Return policy on PC games is non-existant because they are afraid people can go home, burn the game and bring it back to the store without any charge. So what can I do to make this game work since I can't return it?
Btw, Im using Windows Vista with 2 gigs of ram, dual core processor and the latest drivers for all my hardware. But i seriously doubt its a hardware problem.

Re: Install Problem
Each time, after installation, run MIITW (main menu is fine). Hope this helps.

Re: Install Problem
Do you have both of them as boxed hard copies, as in not downloaded versions?
On the back of kingdoms it says the expansion is not compatible with the D2D version of Medieval ii total war.
How i did it was to install medieval ii total war in a new directory program files\Medieval Kingdoms\ instead of the normal one.
Then install Kingdoms straight away. It will automatically upgrade to patch 1.2 and 1.3 then install everything else it takes a while but it worked for me.
Hope that helps.
