    Default Siege battles: walls

    Does anyone else have this problem?

    during seiges my guys go on the walls like normal however, when on the walls they shake back and forth and only the guys in front fight. Now in rome guys fall off the wall and die, but this doesent happen in m2tw, is this a bug? Personally I think it is a shame if its supposed to be that way. does anyone know? thanks.

    I don't think it's a bug. I too noticed this after playing M2TW for the first time. I was disappointed that no one can be pushed off the wall anymore. I guess CA took it out like they took out the option to view your city

    I wish it could be fixed in some text file. all the units have falling animation for when a wall collapases underneath them, if only there was some way.....

    Unfortunately, the walls are handled differently in M2TW than in RTW. M2TW also doesn't feature the killzones (as far as I know), where RTW had the falling pieces of the wall would kill anyone underneath...and let's not go into the burning oil thing, because in medieval times, it was very popular to use burning oil at the gates and also throwing rocks and whatever heavy or hot or hurts at the enemy.

    There is no "descr_building_battle" folder in M2TW, with wall sections explained with killzones.

    Here is how it looked in RTW:
    Code:
    transition ; more damage to platform collapse
    		{
    			duration 120
    			kill_platform 0 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_01p.cas
    			kill_platform 0 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_02p.cas
    			kill_platform 0 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_03p.cas
    			kill_platform 1 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_04p.cas
    			kill_zone 7 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_20.cas
    			kill_zone 11 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_28.cas
    			kill_zone 13 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_32.cas
    			kill_zone 16 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_38.cas
    			kill_platform 17 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_39p.cas
    			kill_zone 17 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_40.cas
    			kill_zone 17 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_41.cas
    			kill_zone 18 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_42.cas
    			kill_platform 18 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_43p.cas
    			kill_zone 19 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_45.cas
    			kill_zone 21 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_48.cas
    			kill_platform 22 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_50p.cas
    			kill_zone 23 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_53.cas
    			kill_zone 27 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_60.cas
    			kill_platform 27 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_61p.cas
    			kill_zone 28 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_62.cas
    			kill_zone 32 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_69.cas
    			kill_zone 35 roman_town_wall_platform_collapse_kill_zone_75.cas
    			physical_switch 30
    			item roman_town_wall_platform_collapse
    			{
    				0 enable
    				120 disable
    			}
    M2TW doesn't have any given text file to modify the walls in a similar way.

    I wonder why they would do away with it? maybe Kingdoms has it added back in since it has burning oil? It just ruins the "feel" when 300 guys are fighting on a rampart and they are magically held safely from falling, only if RTR 7.0 was finished....................

    I've had about 800 men on just a few sections of wall. It was great as they could only fight my (Very much outnumbered) men a few at a time, just so long as I replaced them.

    I could have killed those 800 off a lot quicker if they could shunt each other over the side.

    what about the complicated and very advanced wall defense tactic of "pushing the ladders off the wall"?
