New AntiVirus?

My Subscription to the worst Anti Virus ever, Mcafee, Ended a few days ago. I wished I could of Celebrated when that meant a new anti-virus, But alas, I cried at my Father's Horrible review-reading ability. Now We Have Trend Micro, and here are a few words:


RIP-OFF OF MCAFEE!

I can Only Rely On SypBot and Adaware for so long, And I won't be able to have the protection of a firewall. Any Free Anti-Viruses that go easy on my Ram? Yet are Free and Work?


PS. Too any one who cares, Looks Like I won't be getting an Alienware. To Those who hate me, Rejoice.

I recommend F-Secure. For several years now it has won the tests or tied for the first place. If you don't want to pay, go for a free one. If you want to pay, go for F-Secure!!

Hmmm, Seems trustworthy as the Germans are great modders/programmers, but also, they also make a lot of the viruses. I once tried AVG but I got rid of it in a day.

I've used Anti-Vir and it was great but now I'm on AVG because it matches my AVG Syware in my taskbar. The differences are negligible. The best defense is common sense.

You don't need an antivirus. IMO they slow down computers too much, especially bloated ones like Norton.

Just use firefox and be smart about what you download/open. Keep windows updated too.

I'm afraid you are incorrect about that. Just leaving your computer on with an active internet connection can get you hacked. I am very careful as I got Firefox with Mcafee Site Advisor. I hate to be a racist but back in my old modding community there were a few germans/hackers, and lets just say I never made friends with. I simply watched my friend get hacked in a xfire chat by just following a bad link someone gave him.

Why would you get rid of AVG? I've had it for around 6 months and since uninstalling McAfee its had absolutely no problems.

I'll give AVG a try but I really have something against free stuff, knowing that they won't work. But then again, I have something against Expensive ones because they don't work either. When companies promise gold, they give you copper.

Well an anti-virus won't help in that. I agree with Soviet because if you don't do anything stupid or illegal, you shouldn't get any viruses.

Agree, Kaspersky. Although I prefer the older versions to the new ones. But that's just personal

Kaspersky 5 revealed that when it comes to Trojans, exotic and rare viruses, Kaspersky is the leader of the pack. It found some that none of the others did.
Kaspersky is, in my opinion, the best antivirus of them all. It's been doing great in my tests for years, it isn't a resource hog like Norton and it has a knack for finding things no other one does. This is the one that's running on my computers.

I'll try it out, as AVG was HORRIBLE. By the time It got to 3,000, Mcafee would've got to 30,000. Even takes up more Ram than a game. Truly, Truly, Pathetic.

I hope Kasperky works. And If it doesn't, my dad just re-newed his subscription.

Roman, you have to uninstall your unsubscribed antiviruses - McAfee hogs your PC like a ***** if its unsubscribed but still installed.

And, btw - AVG takes up 27.96MB and uses approximately 3,000k of my memory when running. Plus it updates automatically, doesn't slow my games and doesn't mess them up like McAfee used to. Only downside is it takes a while to do a virus scan, but when I'm scanning I just watch TV.
