    The Seleucid Menace

Yeah sure, and the next time you claim Earth isn't flat ...

Before Eury returns to Rhodes for reinforcements, he decides to sack Halicarnassus and Xantus (gifted to Carthage). The fires can be seen from Rhodes

A little gift for our roman friends. Wow, I didn't even need to use the script

Carthage is ready and attacks TSE. I hope they remember to bring their armies ...

In Crete three new armies are raised. The Fourth under Peli, The Fifth under Dyma and the Sixth under Aris.

Together with the Second and Third, they meet on the shores west of Kydonia.

Peli: Wow, an impressive sight, all those troops and ships ... but why are we here?
Aris: The King has a new assignment for us. We are to set sail to the distant and mysterious land of Britannia, which should be somewhere in the north-west.
Anti: What? We are at war with the Seleucid, why is the bulk of our troops sent on a search for some god forsaken island on the arse end of Poseidon?
Aris: Ehmm... well ... the King ... he had a look at the world map ... and dislikes ... the green stain of Gauls in Britannia ... and wants us to go kill them.
Anax: Gauls? Who the hell are Gauls?
Aris: The Romans told us about them, some hairy, smelly, trouser-wearing barbarians ... that's about all we know about them.
Anti: So we are heading to the middle of nowhere to kill some petty barbarians, without any intel on them or any reinforcements?
Aris: Yup, direct orders of the King ... he may be an idiot, but he's the King ...
Dyma: Just great, but did I have to enlist? I should have stayed with my sheep!

Since the Second up to the Sixth army is heading on a long and dangerous journey, another army has been recruited in Rhodes to support the First.

They see their first combat action in the pillage of Side (->Carthage).

Eury's First is retrained and heads towards Pergamum. The resistance is harder than expected (worthless fool, but at last he has a chirugeon sp?).

Eury then heads north to Lysimacheia, which he sacks too (both to Rome).

The Seventh under Ophe is full of fresh recruits and fights worse than a bunch of women (Carthage) Oh well, time for some retraining.

On their way back to Rhodes, the First makes a stop at Athens, which was conquered recently by the Seleucid. They decide to give it back to Rome, needless to say they keep some stuff as payment

The remnants of the Seventh plunder Myra before they continue their journey back home (Carthage).

111BC, Sarmatians are biting the dust ... Nobody's gonna miss you anyway

The incompetent carthaginians (sp?) lose Halicarnassus and Xantus, so the refitted First reconquers them. The Greeks are civilized, so no city gets sacked twice (atleast not in such a short time )

    The Seventh sacks Ephesus.

This is not looking good, TSE is still butt-raping Rome, eben more than before ... they have so many cities, they don't even notice if some are missing LOL
The First is on it's way to the Middle East, were they hopefully will pillage, rape and kill all their way from Pelusion up to Antioch. The Seventh is gonna have some fun in Greece. The Eighth Army is almost ready and will spread fear and death around the Black Sea.
It's good that in a gifted city 10-15 units spawn, but TSE is still easily reconquering them. Carthage is retarded, they have so many stacks on Sicily and Africa, why can't they send them over? And they only have one boat in total LMAO

My plundering and murdering viking greek pirate hordes will obviously continue terrorising all nearby coastal towns. Since TSE has to divert armies to try to recapture their settlements, I hope I buy Rome enough time so they can stop their advance. With my navy and 8 stacks I only lose 20k per turn

My expeditionary forces have almost reached the altantic, half way done

Wait a sec... Won't those annoying Romans invade you anyway afterwards?

    Wait, stupid but interesting idea:

Go as far east as possible, capture as many cities as possible, then give them to Gaul . Then we can watch them get crushed.

IF we three manage to beat the seleucid, it still ends up in a big second punic war, they will have enough problems with eachother (they are still at war) to worry about me ... how long does the campaign go anyway? 40AD?
TSE has fullstacks basicly everywhere. I couldn't survive 2 turns in their territory. I'm helping Carthage because they may actually do something with the cities I give them, not like Gaul or Germania, both of them have already shown us their "great" military genius Gauls gonna die anyway

I uploaded the newest save here. Thanks for all the rep, I now have a third of those ring-thingies

    A New Hope ?

The Eighth Army is ready, commanded by Captain Kirk

Eury's assaults Sidon and meets the local governor ... full of compassion he releases him from his suffering (awesome trait)

I never thought I would win this one, seem my merc elephants were worth their money Eury is now know as the Butcher

Where, where, where? My spies just can't find any plague ... Project BioWar is put on ice again

The Ninth Army under Mele is ready in 107BC. Since our pirate activities aren't yielding the desired result, a new stategy has been developed. The Ninth will sail to Egypt, sack Petra and then march undedected through the Arabian Desert to ravage the hopefully weak-defended Babylon. Also we will destroy all military infrastructure in the cities we sack (except cities very close to Rome or Carthage), that should slow down TSE. at last some variety in my army composition

The expeditionary forces on their way to Britannia - about 5 millions "Are we there yet?" later ...
Dyma: I'm so bored ... say Peli, do you think those garlic people have sheeps too? I miss them ...
Peli: You're disgusting, you do know that? And how often do I have to tell you that, it's GALLIC not garlic!
Dyma: Yeah, whatever ... barbarian lover.
    Peli: Sheep lover!
    Dyma: Carthaginian!
    Peli: Seleucid!
Aris: Shut up, both of you, I don't tolerate such insults on my ship. By the way, LAND IN SIGHT!

At last they have reached mysterious Britannia. 28 Days later ... they reach Londinium. A rag-tag group of gaul soldiers have gathered near the city. The greek forces make camp nearby. The sounds of the gaul hordes can still be heard.
Gauls: *agh* ... brainz ... *slurp* ... we want brainz ...
Anti: Seems like their century-long seclusion was a good idea, they now can formulate simple sentences *lol* ... maybe we shouldn't have pillaged our way up here ... when do we attack, Aris?
Dyma: Stop, stop, stop... listen what they say! They are not just stupid, they are ZOMBIES!!11! We must get out of here!
Aris: What the hell are you talking about? Pull yourself together! We outnumber them more than 5 to 1, we can't lose!
Dyma: Are you stupid? Don't you know what happens when the military fights Zombies? WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!
Peli: *slaps Dyma* FOOL! I told you guys, we should have dumped him in the middle of the ocean ...
    Aris: Enough talk, ATTACK!

20.000 greeks vs 5.000 gauls AWESOME! That was easier than expected ... remember how much casualties I take against the seleucid, somebody really should nerf their units

A lot of dead gauls later...
Aris: See, wasn't that difficult. You just misunderstood them, they said "we want rain" not brain ... really odd people though ...
Dyma: *goes nuts and starts to hack of the heads of the dead gauls, blood splattering everywhere* Die Zombie Die!
Peli: Argh, stop it, they are already dead ... this is disgusting.
Dyma: I just wanna be sure they stay dead!
Anti: We're gonna burn this town to the ground anyway, stop wasting your strength.
The greeks set fire to the whole town and then head back to their fleet.

Aris: So, we did it ... now what? We would die of old age before we would reach Crete again.
Dyma: We could stay here! Enough space for all of us. *strokes his gallic sheep*
Peli: Yeah sure, I can bet you wanna stay here with all those sheeps around here ... but I doubt the locals would welcome us with open arms after what we did
Anax: Let's have a look at our maps, there is supposed to be a big peninsula to the east, which is only inhabitated by a handful of ... purple guys? ... which idiot did draw this map?
Peli: I say let's head there, not much we can lose anyway.
Dyma: I wanna see some purple guys too :tooth:
how do you call the color of the germans?

Romans must be really desperate ...

The Ninth just conquered Petra and will continue it's march through the arabian desert. The Seventh is retraining in Crete and will then go on a sacking spree in southern greece. Both the First and Eighth are returning home for retraining.

TSE advance is slowing down a bit, I hope my new stategy will give them more problems.
I have never seen somebody taking such a dive from Number 1 to half-dead

Can the TSE recruit good troops in europe?
If not, you can take byzantyum and build a strong landblock here and maybe in armenia..

This can give rome some time to reorganize his troops..

They can recruit everything everywhere (except elephants of course). I think the same goes to every faction, EXCEPT the romans.

That might well be why they're losing lol.

Can you not like kill some of the Seleucid stacks attacking Rome?

Of course it's meant in a dirty way

I would have thought that 765.000 less seleucid taxpayers would make more of an impact though LOL

Of course that's why they are losing, fighting silver shield pikemen, argyraspides and cataphract elephants with militia and auxilia isn't such a good idea
I would need 3 stacks to even have a chance at beating one seleucid stack ... I would run out of population very fast

    Operation Desert Storm

Beating slaves to death and still getting called a very pious man ... Religion was much more fun in those days

I always suspected TSE is making common cause with the Devil, now I have the evidence.

28 weeks later the expeditionary forces land on the shore of Scandinavia, or how the locals call it: Svealand.
A bunch of hippies is having a party for mother nature near the shore. The greeks don't like hippies and decide to throw them into the sea ...

Some of those tree-lover can actually swim and lead the greeks to their city, Finia. Since they wanna settle here and don't want to have smelly and loud neighbors, they burn Finia to the ground. Another small town called Brika is also sacked.

The 5 generals meet near Finia to discuss what to do next.
Dyma: *enters the tent last, has a small and very furry sheep on his arms* This place is great, I have never seen such cute and furry little sheeps
Aris: *tries to ignore Dyma stroking his sheep* Now that we have ... encouraged ... the male locals to leave, we can settle here without trouble. Our soldiers are tired and want to settle down and found a family. The first houses are already built over the ashes of Finia.
Peli: Nobody told me this place sucks ... trees, snow and more trees ... and it's freezing cold.
Anti: Some of the soldiers don't wanna stay too.
Aris: That's actually good ... this place doesn't really look wealthy or fertile, I doubt the local tree-huggers even know what gold means. We could need someone who would get us raw materials, food and gold to pay the mob.
Peli: And where should we get that stuff from, we don't have anything to trade!
Aris: I thought that was obvious, I never said we pay for it The whole baltic sea is open for plundering, the pitiful inhabitants don't stand a chance against our triremens and hoplites.
Anti: That sounds good, I like being on the sea more anyway.
Peli: Pirates ... I always wanted to be a pirate!
Anax: All that pillaging and murdering does sound intriguing, but I think I'll pass.
Dyma: I will stay here too, sheeps don't like sea travels
Aris: Then it's decided. From now on we shall call us Svreeks (Svealand Greeks) ... no wait, Vreeks is much better! Our neigbors will soon learn to fear this name
*drumrolls* and that's how the vikings came into existence

Library of Alexandria in Jerusalem? :hmmm:

My diplomat reaches Cyprus ... and almost 400k denarii later

After a long and dangerous journey through the Arabian Desert, Mele and his army reach at last Mesopotamia. The first city that burns is Charax. The seleucid are completely taken by surprise and whole Mesopotamia falls to the Greeks. Operation Desert Storm is a success!
It looks like being an Iraqi sucks in every time period

Project BioWar gets reactivated. Three of our spies will go on a sight-seeing tour through many seleucid cities

Yup, that dark red spot in the heart of the seleucid empire is the new Eastern German Empire I will give them Dumatha, Charax and Susa too when I have conquered Pesagadae (sp?), which is east of Susa on the edge of the map. That will be my base of operations for the War in the East.

My guerrilla actions are starting to come to fruition. The war with Rome has completely grinded to an halt. I just have to keep it up before they can stabilize again.

Since some armies have been merged or disbanded and new ones recruited, here comes a list of all my active armies.

Eury's First Army is now stationed on Cyprus. His Rhodians were replaced with Cyprotes (sp?). He raids the coast around the holy land.

Anti's Second is wreaking havoc in the baltic sea, trying to rebuild the (Western) German Empire.

Peli is now the commander of the Third, which is also stationed in the Baltic Sea.

Ophe's army is now called the Fourth. Responsible for Greece and Macedonia.

Capt. Kirk and the Fifth are in charge of the Asia Minor coast.

Mele's Sixth is fighting the War in the East.

Prot from K-Pax leads the new Seventh Army and Pan (a.k.a Bread) the Eighth. Both have been recruited in Mesopotamia to support Mele in the War in the East.

Zoo and the Ninth (with veterans from the First) will take over the Asia Minor coast, so that the Fifth can push forward into the Black Sea.
