Really entertaining! Thanks a bunch for a good read! Can't wait for the next update (I guess I will be rooting for the Romans like everybody else)

Idea:
Wait until only 1 faction remains. Before then, build as many armies on your islands as possible. Then, launch a full scale invasion. OR, take a bunch of cities, then leave, causing mass rebellions.
I bet that the Selucids will win. Since Rome will fight Germania, a massive Selucid army will appear and BOOM the Roman Empire is chopped into bits.
Either that, or Carthage will appear outta nowhere during WWZ and start whooping both sides.
Oh, and whats going on with Gaul? They are sitting around up north in Britain, doing nothing.
Don't overestimate the germans, they are maybe left with 2 stacks on the mainland, nothing more than mopping up for Rome. Even if Carthage launches a full-scale assault with everything they have, they could never beat Rome or TSE or even both. Gaul is still sitting around Britain doing nothing, and they won't do anything because the rebels up there are way to strong for a tiny one-city faction. Maybe I should wipe them out, for the sake of a clean campaign map![]()
The world is changing a lot.
NO, NO, NOOOOOOOOO! Those bastards stole it from me after keeping it for almost 100 years ... I hope they die fast![]()
That's what happens when you only recuit first cohorts ... Utterly disgraced (-8 Influence) for losing 2 eagles ... and he isn't the only one with that nickname![]()
A look at the roman front, 164BC. I now know why Rome's military ranking sucks, half of their armies are made up of these super crappy spear-militia cohorts (17 att + 53 def, a joke). But it's slowly getting better, I'm seeing more and more legionary cohorts.
Cool, the first time I see a Preatorian Cohort![]()
But If I have a closer look at them, they SUCK! Take a look at the two other cohorts, they would be the same or better with the same equipment and xp. But they have the double amount of men and half the upkeep (and even more armor)... what kind of balancing is this? Give 'em 2hp and they may be worth their money.
BTW why do the ones with pilum have a charge of 1 and the one without of 20? Looks strange ...
160 BC
The War with Macedon, the only question is who get's what
The border with Germania.
And the northern border with TSE, looks like somebody is preparing a little invasion (of course that's not their whole army).
Somehow Muttines survived all those years in Iberia, and now he even got some reinforcements![]()
Rome is back in business, this is really gonna be the biggest slugfest the world has ever seensuch a boost because they started to recruit more real legionaries
![]()
Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooore!
But really, does Rome stand a chance? The seleucids are a lot bigger!!
P.S. Weird about the praetorian cohorts... Could it have anything to do with the fact that you've picked two legionary FIRST cohorts, and the Praetorian cohort is only a usual one?

I think Rome stands a chance, their military rankings are almost the same. But Rome has more armies in striking positions, which should give them a little advantage at the beginning of the war. They just have to keep up recruiting legionaries during the war instead of those militia crap.
I had a look at the EDU, there are no preatorian first cohorts, these guys really suck. Paying double the upkeep for half the men just for the cool skin ... that's not worth it. I think I should give them 2hp ... at least in the next campaign I play.
And I know why the AI keeps recruiting only first cohorts, they have 40 men more than normal cohorts (240 instead of 200), the same stats and the same upkeep (a little more recruitment cost though), they would be stupid if they wouldn't recruit them![]()
Were working on tweaking the costs, to try and minimise the recruitment of first cohorts.

You should give the Preatorians a look too.
Your rooting for Rome sounds a bit inappropriate Hannibal

I'm having some internet connection problems atm, and I'm getting kind of pissed. Either the provider is screwing things up again, or my router is dying on me (please don't). So if I am not posting any updates anymore, the AAR isn't dead, only my internet connection

The AI doesn't recruit almost any cavalry, for every 5 roman stacks there is maybe one cavalry unit (with luck). TSE even has less cav. But they have a big cataphract elephant fetish. They are spamming them, even though they have an upkeep of 1500. Their armies mostly consist of Phalanx and Silver Shield Pikemen, Argyraspides and Elephants.
The World at 150BC
Carthage is still landing stacks once in a while on the spanish coast, but they don't move.
Rome is launching a new invasion into the last german continental holdings.
Both TSE and Rome are concentrating massive forces at their northern borders.
:sparta: (sorry couldn't resist)
Romans are mopping up the rest of Macedon. A little spark and whole Greece will blow up and drown in blood

I really don't understand whats going on, the ups and downs of the AI seem to me like coincidence ...
I am in a bad situation right now, I have only 3 old generals left (one with 65yo, the two other 50yo). I am just not getting any adoptions and barely any kids. I have a 5yo boy and a 10yo girl ... how old does she needs to get before I can marry her off? 14? I really need some young blood or the royal bloodline gets extinct![]()

send some captains over to the mainland, use the auto_win cheat, then they will get a heroic victory (make sure u send just one unit into battle). He will get an adoption thing, voila..instant family members.

Ha, take that you hairy bastards
Yes, don't have to worry about it for the next 50 yearscool, I can marry them off at the age of 12
144BC, Macedon kicks the bucket.
Greece before Macedon gets killed, and afterwards (OVERKILL). First traffic jam in historyno war yet
The World at 140BC
Rome is ignoring Germania, so TSE made a move on them (although they were allies). Once the seleucid take dolcis domus, Rome won't have any other chance but to attack them. The last sarmatian city is under siege.
Rome's mighty legions, waiting for the ultimate battle.
TSE has only one monster-stack.
The Ultimate Showdown, which will decide the fate of the world, should start soon, with luck in 2 or 3 years![]()
