    Default Insurmountable CTD

My game is updated to 1.3 so that maybe the cause however i dont think so since it doesnt change the original game from 1.2 just adds the new kingdoms campaigns. Im Scotland and year 1103 and everytime i press continue it crashes when it reaches another factions moves: ive tried to build new things, move units and stuff but it still crashes...any ideas?

Edit: it seems to crash only when its the independants turn...anyone have a fix?

The dreaded independents crash. It seems to happen to different people at different times. The stock choice here would be to add 1,000,000 to the rebels starting cash (in desc_strat).

And see if that fixes it on an new campaign. Can't really give you any other choices unfortunately. As far as that fixing it, you got a 50-50 chance :?

Sorry, hopefully torn can resolve the issue. Wish I could help more but I've never experienced this bug before (just heard about it quite a bit).

There may be more fixes that could help, just look at all the other thread posts pertaining to crashes.

what I tend to do is to use the console command toggle_fow.... this seems to give the AI better choices than CTD.... It is not bulletproof but works most times for me.

Try to comment out all trait triggers. Or if you don't have an editor that can do that for you, make a backup copy of the file and delete all triggers.

I still cant get it to work: ive uninstalled everything, deleted the folder adn then reinstalled M2TW, the 1.2 patch and then the mod. I still have a CTD caused by independents at roughly 1102 and i cant get past it. Ive tried giving the rebels 1000000 starting money but it still doesnt work. THe only modifications ive made is to the campaign bd file where i altered the family part but i dont see how that could cause it. THe list of changes i made to the family where:

    Max age 90
    Old age 80
    children mature at 14
age difference for marriage proposals +5 or -5.

And i added that jerusalem needed to be captured as a scotland victory condition (im playing as scotland)

    Any help?

PS: wat do u mean comment out all trait triggers? i dunno where they are or wat u want me to do :S

The_Long_Road/data/export_descr_character_traits.txt is the file in question. It is commonly referred to as EDCT or the traits file. It contains a set of traits (items occuring in the list to the right on your general's sheet, beside his ancillaries) and triggers that will affect them.

The triggers can in some circumstances make the game crash, so you can test whether this is the problem by disabling them in the way I described; either comment them out by adding a ';' character in front of all the lines concerning triggers, or deleting those lines. Either way you should make a backup copy of the file first.

Anyway, acegogo's suggestion is a lot easier to try, you should do that first.

This is the second time I've seen ctd thread where the owner has only edited the age range.

I believe, that the game is crashing because there is too many family members alive.

Try a clean install no changes, and see if you crash still around that time. Before that you may want to try out Acegogo's first.

reinstalling and still use the save game doesn't have an effect you have to start a new campaign.

The command toggle you activate by hitting -> ` <- it is just left of button 1
