    Default Kingdoms Cinematic Editor

    Hi
I've created a stack of files which enable the Cinematic editor in Kingdoms.
It contains six *.cfg and six *.bat files. One pair for each expansion mod (americas/british_isles/crusades/teutonic) + the original Medieval II CineEd files.

    How to use:
    - Extract the archive into your Medieval II Total War folder (usually C:\Program Files\Medieval II Total War )
    - Open the *.cfg file of your specific mod (americas/british_isles/crusades/teutonic or m2tw) and set the paths of the replay file, camera, mod and capture_tga dir to the path you have Medieval II installed in. Additionally, you have to change Replay.rpy into the file name of your replay.
    - For help/how to use the editor once you have it started look here. This is a developer tutorial. You can use this too, but you have to modify it the way I did in my files.

    Download the file here.

If you have more questions regarding the CineEd, look here.

This post has been edited... Original post content:
I have not bought Kingdoms yet, so I'd like to know a bit about the cinematic editor of it. Has someone already tried the cine ed with patch 1.3/Kingdoms? Is it just the same as with the original M2 or has it improved or even dropped?
Oh and sorry if someone already asked that

Hello. I saw your movies. Nice. Your post made it sound like you have used the cinema editor in previous versions. I have never used it.

I cannot get it to work. I looked in the Kingdoms Readme file and followed the instructs as best I could. I copied the regular config into a new config file and added the lines per the instructions in the Readme. When I enter the command line invoking the program using my new config file as it says to do in the Readme notes, it keeps giving me a CD not found error (but the MTW CD is in the drive (as always).

Would you please explain how you get the CineEd program running?

    Thx

    hello

right i got everything done for the normal med 2, but i have a problem, where the hell is my replays folder to call up in the config??? i was told file = C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\Replays\meowns.rpy" (with meowns the file) unfort i have vista 64, and no such file exsists? which is odd this is as far as i can get = C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War but there is no replays folder, where would it be?

    any help thanks!

    Hello

    @ teepee:
Yeah, i've used the cine ed in M2 1.2 but not in kingdoms yet as i said and as you can see at my movie.
Maybe you can tell me whether the instructions of the readme file is the same as of the original M2. If so, i think you can use this tutorial of CA staff member Caliban: http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic...-Tutorial.html
Then i think there ain't a difference between M2 and kingdoms editor.

    @lordgeordie:
I dont know whether the installation path of kingdoms is the same as in M2 and neither do i know about vista installations (except that the cine ed doesn't work on vista properly).
Anyway, the replay folder appears only if you've already saved a replay in M2 as far as i know. Maybe thats your problem..

I'm running Kindoms under XP on my desktop, but when I got a new laptop with Vista recently I had some wierd stuff occur with some other programs. If memory serves it seemed an issue with file contention or something like that that didn't happen under XP. Don't remember why I tried, but I uninstalled the program from C:\Program Files, and re-installed it under C:/Users/(myuser), under which I created a subfolder named MY Programs. Moving the application there did the trick for that problem. Why that worked, I haven't the faintest clue. If you get to the grasping at straws stage.

I got the CinEd to start up. I changed the line in the batch file (cin-ed.bat) that called the program to include the same parameters I found when looking under "Properties" for the auto-installed desktop shortcut. The call to the program, in this case (Americas), is ... "kingdoms.exe @cin-ed.cfg --features.mod=mods/americas ". It comes up fine now. Now I have to learn to use it. Good Luck.

Ah thanks for that info teepee! at least i know that its different to M2 how you start the cine ed.

Now what i still need to know is whether the program itself has improved =)

I use another program that they adapted for Vista, even though I use XP - and what they did there was put info in the Documents and Settings\Application Data\ subfolder

but that's hidden, so search will not show a thing. Have to turn on viewing hidden files and folders in Folder Options under Tools in your toolbar.

Just guessing, but that's an option. Hope that helps

I seem to be having a problem different than everyone elses.

Everything works fine except i cant add in camera shots because the whole top bar of CineEd is missing as you can see in the picture.

I think its something to do with my computer, if anyone has any advice i would greatly appreciate it.

    Hi Lightbringer,

It looks like you have a low desktop resolution. Try right clicking on your desktop -> properties -> settings tab. and then change your desktop resolution to something like 1280x960 or 1600x1200. Apply the changes and re-run cin-ed. This might fix your problem.

unfortunately that doesnt solve the problem

    that simply made it smaller

now, if i right click on CineEd on the toolbar on the bottom and click move, it allows me to move by dragging just above the actual CineEd window, where the bar is supposed to be.

also, the tab above the medieval 2 window is also missing, so mabye its something to do with running the game in windowed mode?

i would put another pic but the file size is too large.

I have added the needed files for the kingdoms cinematic editor into the first post. You can download it now and use it to make your own videos

Maybe a moderator can merge this thread with other ones about kingdoms cine ed, if there are any (at least one exists afaik).

You have to but your camera name into the following line: camera = D:\Games\Medieval II Total War\Cameras
How is your camera named? For example, if you named the camera camera_1.cam change the line into: camera = D:\Games\Medieval II Total War\cameras\camera_1.cam
