No Defending in Hot seat

I've just bought the new Kingdoms game and have installed it. Started playing the crusade campaign on my own and it played well, no problems.

Then when I started playing the hotseat mode with my mate we both came across a problem.

You cant defend your armies when the AI take they're turn, the battle just happens without your knowledge, so we'd both find that our armies have been defeated on our go.

Anyone know how and if theres a way to get around this problem.

I don't think there is, because its doing it as if they computers were human. This sounds silly, but if you attacked your mate, both of you couldn't play, yeh? so they've done the same with the AI. Thats what i think anyway, but what do i know! I think its stupid as well, hopefully they'll fix it in a patch.
